Oklahoma State made up a TON of ground in the coaches poll. If the AP poll follows suit I don't see how they don't end up playing LSU.

It is the Harris poll they are worried about. The AP isn't part of the BCS anymore.

TCU moving up two spots in the coaches poll is pretty big for them. It will be very close if they can finish 16 in the BCS.

based on current computer projections (OSU 2 in 4 of 6), OSU must now pass Bama in Harris poll by 5 points to be #2 overall.

I can't decide which would be more fun: LSU beating OSU by 2+ TDs and getting to laugh at the people who thought they might give them a better game than Bama, or LSU vs. Bama, and getting to laugh at the weeping and gnashing of teeth that would happen for the next month. Either way...

UPDATE: The coaches poll point totals at the top have been revealed. Oklahoma State pulled to within 32 points of Alabama. As you can probably deduce if you read the bit below, that's not good news for the Cowboys.

OSU will now need to pass Alabama in the Harris poll and lead by at least five points to finish No. 2 overall in the BCS. That seems unlikley, with the way poll voters tend to group-think, but you never know with those wacky Harris folks.

Also, even though it doesn't count, the AP poll has Alabama No. 2 as well, although by a closer margin than the coaches have.

Is that the criteria though, or is it who had the best season? Because I'm sure there can be 8-4 or 6-6 teams who get star players back or just go on a hot streak who might give a #1 team the "best" game but that doesn't mean you put them there.

I agree that LSU will destroy OSU, but I also think OSU deserves to be there. Bama had their shot, and they didn't have as good a season.

Going by the Coaches Poll:

Playoffs Round 1

LSU (BYE)

Stanford vs Oregon
Oklahoma State vs Boise St.

Alabama (BYE)

I like the first round matchups!

'Bama might be even better fitted to take on OSU. 'Bama would have to no show for them to lose that game. If OSU plays LSU, I think the bowl season will only prove that LSU and 'Bama were the two best teams in the country.

Wyoming v. Temple in the New Mexico Bowl. Pokes won that bowl two years ago. Fans preferred a different bowl given they were 8-4 this year, but school isn't exactly a ticket seller in a larger location and the NM Bowl ensures that more Wyoming fans will travel than any other bowl. So the school officials preferred it.

Also no Boise or TCU in a BCS game. First time since 2006 no-AQ team in a BCS game.

[insert smart ass BCS-conference fan comment here]

Boise State to Vegas. TCU to the Poinsettia bowl. MWC has the shittiest bowl tie-ins and a network no one watches.

Both of them would be in an 8-team playoffs, wouldn't they?

Depending on how one arranged an 8-team playoff...you'd figure Boise State would being Top 8 in the BCS and TCU would be because they won the MWC.

From the process of elimination, sounds like Purdue is heading to Little Caesars to face Western Michigan.

10 Big Ten teams picked...wow, we are not that good a football conference this year.

I don't even remember that other post.

I was just commenting on Aldon Smith (#7 pick from Mizzou) on the 49ers, which some said was a reach and I thought it was a good pick.. hence I might be a bit biased. I have no idea which word is right.

Based on old school ways the human polls were what mattered. Guess who was #2?
