***WOOO HOOO Snow Day***
My first since becoming a full time teacher
A nice 3 day weekend. And I noticed that the new guy who I share a driveway with (I live in a duplex) has a plow attached to his truck, meaning I don't have to shovel either. Now time to go back to sleep ! Last edited by ScottVib : 12-09-2005 at 04:17 AM. |

Good for you. Now I have to go shovel before what should be a nice two-hour drive to work.

Woohoo, no work today, and I noticed that bastard who lives in my duplex eyeing my truck that has the plow attached to it! I am gonna plow all the snow around him, so that he can't leave, hahahahhahahahaha!
Just kidding.

One year olds don't seem to understand that Mommy and Daddy having a two hour delay for work means they can sleep longer.

POOP.
My office is open with liberal leave, but apparently liberal leave doesn't matter if you have things due (and they're not even really due for me, they're do for other people that I have to sign off on). What really irks me about this is that I'd been planning on taking today as a mental health day anyway, as I've had a long week with long hours and would only have to take a couple hours of leave to have the day off. But the other two people that could do this signoff that I need to do are on vacation starting today, so I'm the lucky one who has to go in. Now I need to get dressed and clean off my car to drive 5 miles to stay at work for 2 hours. No, I'm not disgusted. /tk

We've had 3 inches of snow, so North Virginia has ground to a halt. I'm one of two who've actually made it to the office.
n.b. People in any part of the frozen north, try and not laugh too hard at the woosieness of the NoVa region. You may pull a muscle or something. |

My wife, since moving down here, finds it truly amazing that this area closes schools for such a minor amount of snow. MD/DC/VA comes to a screatching halt if there is a light dusting of snow and everyone panics like the end of the world is coming.

Same with me. In my section of the building, there are about 25-30 offices. Only two of us are here so far... It's always good for a laugh to check out the morning news when we get 2"-3" and they are freaking out though. |

When I was still working at Raytheon I had a day where I was planning on taking off and going to the beach, but I went in at 8:00 just to make sure that my co-workers had everything that they needed. Just then one of my bosses came by and said "oh good you came in, we need you for a meeting" My response "but I was just here for a few minutes", was met with "well now I guess you are here for a lot longer..." That day sucked. |

Being a stay at home dad can be the most frustrating thing in the universe, but after reading all the complaints and constat strife about everyone with a "real" job I am SO glad I can spend all my time with my daughter.
You people can KEEP the "real" jobs =) |

Unfortunatly here in Buffalo, the powers that be almost never close schools...Blech.
The last one I remember was a few yrs ago. The boss lady of schools got hit with a 50 mph wind gust and fell right on her ass. Decided to close schools that day as she probably realized 1st graders tend to fly away in those kinda winds... |

Stupid Boston. Was supposed to snow up to 8 inches, we got about 4 and then it all turned to rain. Sadly, I was in NJ yesterday and missed it there too. Need a nice blizzard (I take the T to work and don't have to shovel).
