"Ages of Man" a 500mb patch for Call to Power 2.

http://www.theagesofman.net/index.html

Anyone have this game yet? Any comments out there?

Unlike most people out there, I loved CTP2. Played it constantly and was hoping that eventually CTP3 would make its way to the shelves. I will definately be ordering this game, but since I am still on dialup I will have to wait for the mail.

I also love that you can buy the disc and/or download the game directly. I wish somebody else would alow this option.

I could never figure out why CTP and Civ looked so similar. Was there a split in the company that prompted this? Is CTP just a eerily similar clone rip-off? Just coincidence?

It goes a little something like this.

They are both made by the same company
Sid Meir's Civilization. (1&2&3)
Civilization's Call to Power (1&2)

Anyway I read all about the new AI and immediately placed my $7.53 order for CTP's Ages of Man. I will let you know in about 10 day, because I am not downloading that sucker.

I thought Fireaxis made Civ, while Activision made Call to Power

The Ages of Man

The civ series and the CTP series were made in competition to each other by different companies.

CTP2 was really not finished properly, had a lot of bugs and the AI was not tweaked up properly so it was a pushover. It did however have smooth gameplay which allowed for online MP. It was also extensively modded.

The Ages of Man discs can be ordered from:

$10.00 Australian gets a disc to anywhere in the world.

Or it can be downloaded from:

I have played AOM extensively after playing a lot of CTP2 (mainly the later mods). AOM is really an unofficial expansion pack for CTP2, as different to CTP2 as Civ3 was to Civ 2. An enormous effort has gone into revamping much of the game. The result is one of the most challenging games I have played, some complain too hard. I saw one post where the AI was described as murderous, where in the original game it was pathetic.

The AOM team has just released an update that improves the response of the AI to diplomacy. I tested some of that code and it goes a large way to fixing the one thing where AOM may have lacked depth, the diplomacy.

A real thinking and planning game with many interesting and some totally unique concepts. Never seen a game with so many tools to develop strategy with. And it is a little unique in that there are some scripted historical events to put a little pressure on you.
