Well, so much for home ice advantage.

8 games.
7 road team wins.
7 home-ice advantages out the window.

I thought everyone already knew that home-ice was useless.

So, once you have won a handful of games in the NHL regular season... what exactly are you playing for? If there are no byes, and there's no real home-ice advantage (pretty clearly true), then who gives a shit whether you win 70% or 50% of your games?

I guess that's why there's a thread here calling this "the most wonderful time of the year..." - after months and months of meaningless hockey, now they actually start playing for something.

I agree that most everybody making the playoffs makes the regular season almost worthless in Hockey and, to a slightly lesser extent, the NBA.

But, that being said, them damned Rangers still haven't made the playoffs for six years. I'm starting to hate the management at the Garden.

Don't you think people are getting a little too anxious after just one game??? I'd much rather have home ice in a potential game 7 than play on the road.
