yeah. no prob bob. nothing really "new" in this first part, more of an overview. I'm hoping the next 2 parts get a bit more interesting. But it's still sweet to see some of this stuff, at least for a history-geek like me

I wonder how many book based documentaries I have missed because they were on PBS?
Sux that it doesnt get too much press, and we get the near pointless Auto Maniacs, Mythbusters type history shows.

the fact that this kinda stuff totally FASCINATES me really makes me think that I ought to go back to school and get my PhD.

edit: in fact, new thread coming from this idea that i've been mulling over

Then you could get your ass kicked if you're not careful--academia does not look kindly to budding inter-disciplinarians (ala Diamond, whose formal training was in Biology)...

As for as the mini-series goes: I read the book years ago, but did not catch the show. Does it basically rehash the book?

Then you should be watching History Detectives that comes on right before it. Well at least on my PBS station that is.
