Newbie Question About Full League Draft
Hello Folks,
Just bought FOF and I'm trying to get my feet wet. One question: How do you get contract info before you draft a guy? That's an important factor in assembling a team - especially in the later rounds. I can't find that info until I actually have them on my roster. Any help would be appreciated. Also, I'll be looking to join a new league sometime soon, so keep me in mind. I'll post on that thread as well. [email protected] |

I don't have an answer for you neef as I haven't ever done a full draft, but I wanted to say welcome. And I hope you enjoy the game.

The salaries are all slotted by round, rather you have no control over them.
Edit: I should mention that the length of the contracts will vary. Last edited by sovereignstar : 07-11-2005 at 11:03 AM. |

I just did a full draft and found about half of my money gone in the first few rounds, including seeing my first pick (a young undeveloped QB stud) sign for 5 years, a $3.8mil bonus, and a salary increasing to $12.5 mil in the 5th year. By the time I finished the draft, I had about $9mil in cap room and was perfectly in line with all of the computer teams. I think the contracts are decided only by draft position and not at all by player.
My whole draft strategy was to draft young underdeveloped players. I have the lowest average player age in the league, and corresponding low current skills. If contracts were based on the player, I'd expect my current cap room to be huge. |

That actually makes a lot of sense. Thanks for your help guys. I'd rather not worry about money during an initital draft anyways. Boy drafting the wrong guy in the early rounds could really cost you though, eh? Choose wisely I guess.
Thanks for the warm welcome as well. |

Hey Scarecrow! I thought I might find a few familiar faces (names) here.
So tell me, which game is harder, this or OOTP? Which one's better? And do you make any trades in your FOF leagues or are you all home grown like in the CBL? Oh, yeah, and Winnipeg sucks. (Although we both kind of suck this year, don't we?) |

For solo play, FOF is harder. In the short run you may think you can 'beat the system' but it will come back to bite you in the ass over time. In league play, FOF is also harder, but that's because of the quirky export functionality of FOF. Really soon, you are going to see what a tight AI game plays like; as opposed to OOTP and it's FAC*. Let's see. I'm in 1 FOF (FOFL) league, and 3 OOTP leagues (FOBL, CBL, and CDL). The only league I actually make trades in is the FOBL. Guess I never realized it until now. Quote:
As long as Winnipeg's record is better than that crap Churchill is putting on the field, I'll survive. Why can't I have this season's pitching output with last season's offense. * FAC: Fancy Assed Calculator - what most text based sim games are.

Thanks for the info, Scarecrow. I'm eager to learn the ropes in this game. If your FOF league has any openings, I'd love to be a part of it.
Cheers, neef |
