OT - Fantastic Four

Anyone seen it yet?

Walked in and walked out.

It's not bad... but I think the industry's oversaturated with super hero movies now.

If this came out last year, I would have been stoked. But after all the super hero movies I've watched, I think I need a break from it.

Thumbs in the middle (leaning up, I drool for Alba. Heh.)

I'm in no hurry, I haven't been really impressed by the trailer, and honestly I never did like the Fantastic 4.

I loved the Roger Corman production from a few years back, a decent movie with ok effects for $2 million. The Thing in Corman's film looks a helluva lot better than the one in the ads I've seen.

I'll wait for DVD. If I see any superhero movie this summer, it'll be Batman.

Good call. Batman Begins was terrific.

Of course, given that's a recommendation from a tree-hugging liberal hippy, will FN go?

I don't care what anyone says. It's got my future wife in it, and I'll be going to see it.

I've had a crush on Jessica Alba since 1990.

LOL

To me, it looks bad. I will not see it unless I can watch it free on DVD at some point.

I don't think I'd watch it even if TiVo recorded it as a suggestion, I had nothing at all to do, and my internet connection was busted.

I have seen it.

I live in the Philippines, and it went out here on July 6, 2005. We're about 12-hours ahead of Eastern Time.

I won't knock the movie. I don't know how else they could've done the thing. I think they would've botched it if they went with the cg-effects of Hulk.

Michael Chickless in that latex suit wasn't bad at all. I really don't know how else they could've done The Thing.

The Human Torch was kick-ass though. The actor who played him really captured Johnny Storm's ego.

I was a bit iffy on Reed Richards being an all-brains chicken-shit love-bunny type of character. But I guess anyone would go bananas over Jessica Alba (drool.)

Its not the worst superhero movie ever made. I agree with the actor they got to play Johnny Storm played that role perfectly.
I also disagree with the film for making Reed Richards look to be afraid of commitment but I do agree with making him look like an uber nerd. Jessica Alba's hot but was Sue Storm? Eh, not exactly but still Alba's hot...

I liked Dr. Doom and I guess Chiklas in a suit is better than going CG like the Hulk.

Biggest problem was the acting and the CG of Mr. Fantastic. If I didn't see it, I probably would have waited for it to come on cable or buy it on DVD when the price dropped to sub-$10.

Haven't seen it. Want to see it. But now, after seeing my faithful friends here smash it, I might have to reconsider.

I was disheartened by the early sneak previews. Something about The Thing not smoking as much as his comic counterpart did because it was too 'not pc'. Not a real big deal but it was something that made me wince a little. I haven't followed the comic that much (only intimate relationship was with a marvel board game when I was a kid...and my geeky friends playing Marvel role playing games). Still, Sue will always be blonde in my eyes. I am probably in the minority when i say that Alba isn't that great and doesn't do much for me (gays are a minority but you get where Im coming from). Sue was hotter to me. Maybe because she was always mid-30s in my eyes. Who knows.

I will probably just go buy this on DVD when it comes out.

Im drinking tonight.

Wow. Rotten Tomatoes gives it a 27% Fresh (Ie, 27% of reviewers thought it was at least average)

Absolutely Awful.

The F4 were my favorite superheroes comics/TV show of the 60s and early 70s but for some reason, I had not seen a single superheroes movie in the past 20 years. Won't start now.

I saw it, and it wasn't terrible, but it certainly wasn't great.

I'd give it a thumbs sideways type of "Eh".

I've seen worse. Anyway, DAMN Jessica looked freakin hot in that movie.

LOL

I haven't seen the movie yet. Hell, I haven't even seen Batman, War of the Worlds, or Land of the Dead (I feel shame). I never held out much hope for this movie from the get go. That said, it did a solid job at the box office and is being haled as the 'savior of the summer.' Now, I think it's box office numbers will plunge dramatically this week, but I still like seeing comic book movies do well. This means more comic book movies. While, of course, this will likely mean more bad comic book movies, it also increases the chances of good comic book movies.

After Sin City and Batman Begins, it's hard to imagine any comic book/graphic novel movie living up to expectations.

Really? I would actually think the opposite, no? That those movies showed just how good comic book/graphic novel movies can be when done right. Still haven't seen Batman Begins, but Sin City certainly lived up to expectations. It blew 'em right outta the water.

That's the thing. Sin City and Batman Begins were so good that it'll be hard for F4 and other comic book movies to live up to the standard that those two movies have now set.
