So I Purchased FM, Now What?

Ok so I purchased FM earlier this week and want to be prepared when it arrives. What add-ons does everyone recommend I download so I can be ready when the game arrives at my door?

Well, not knowing what version will ship with the disk, you could download patch 5.05 to be prepared. I would also check out the edit: I think I meant the dugout (not underground) or various sites if you are interested in some facepacks and updates to some of the teams.

There's lots of sites that have skins available for download. I use the stone skin, and a modified ball (can't recall which one) which I think you can find on the dugout site.

Some people really like FM Scout as well, although I personally don't use it.

What is the difference in the ball you use and the default one? I'd say that the aurora skin is the best I've seen, so many options and gives the game a totally different look.

Not much really. It just has a little Nike logo on it. I'll see if I can find it and post a link. You can get ones with the silver ball and a few others ... it doesn't really add much to be honest. There's some skins to update the goal posts as well, but I havent touched those.

edit: link HERE

The site linked has some good skins and other stuff.

It only gives a different look to the ball. Personally, I use the Chrome Pro ball:

I'd suggest downloading 5.0.5 (latest patch) and rummaging around randomly on sortitoutsi.net for random add-ons which take your fancy (I'd suggest some of the skins, possibly a ball, player pack and also take a look at some of the commentary stuff).

Finally if you're new to the game take a look around at some of the help guides as these will help you settle into things as easily as possible ..

what Marc said and here's something you may want to look into:
http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~fof/foru...ad.php?t=38663

It's an advanced stats panel that expands the stats in a player's profile screen. It's kind of hard to notice on sortitoutsi...

By commentary stuff do you mean the play-by-play descriptions that occur during a match? If so, can you point me to these? (sortitout is not the easiest site to navigate). Thanks.

Yes, there's some enhanced commentary stuff out there. I haven't tried any of them, but they sound cool.

Try the FM2005 Utilities > Unofficial utilities section on sortitout.

Here's one link: LINKY

I'm also a fan of the Chrome Pro Ball. Plenty of good things on sortitoutsi.
