Possible Bug
Hey Guys,
I'm currently playing as a GM in the PFL and recently we came across an interesting item regarding Drew Bledsoe's statistics. Over the last several weeks, Bledsoe (Who's playing for the Carolina Panthers) has been racking up the rushing yardage. We're halfway through the season and he has over 350 yards rushing. This, however, isn't the strange thing. When looking over the latest box score for the Panthers, I came across this: Passing: 18/32 198 Yards 2 TDs 1 Int Rushing: 19/55 Yards (Note: He was the only Carolina player with a rushing attempt). Receiving: 2 Rec/12 Yards 1 TD Two things stand out here: 1. Bledsoe was the only one on his team with any rushing attempts. This makes no sense. I don't even see how you could set up a game plan to do this....even if you wanted to. 2. He had 2 receptions, 1 that went for a TD. I know that in the real NFL, QBs will sometimes have a pass batted back at them and then they catch it. Or sometimes on a halfback option the running back will throw it to them. But Bledsoe was the only one who attempted a pass (So no HB option) and the likelihood that he would catch two batted passes seems extremely unlikely. Anyone else ever seen anything like this? |

I'll assume this is a rhetorical question. |

Yup. I once had a QB rush the ball 38 times for 189 yards. However, I used a 3rd party gameplan program before the game, and I'm 99% sure that's where the blame lies.
Did you use any external programs in setting the gameplan?

I couldn't answer that question because the Panthers aren't my team. Are you saying this utility allows you to put in depth charts and game plans that the base game doesn't permit? |

The imports into FOF aren't error-checked, as far as I know. I don't know of a gameplan utility that specifically lets you use bad depth charts, but there may be a bug in one that does.

if it wasnt a third party gameplan, this may be worth posting in the main forum, or emailing support.

I'm willing to bet a lot of money that this was a third party gameplan. That was a frequently mentioned "bug" with third party gameplan generators in the past. It was the reason that I stopped using them.

Basically what the utility did was allow you to split gameplans. Say I had one gameplan that was pass heavy with a defense set for a rushing attack, and I had a second gameplan that was more rush heavy with a defense set for a passing team. With this utility I could take the pass heavy attack and pass defense from the two different gameplans and combine them into a third, different gameplan. It worked for me most of the time, but after seeing it mess up a couple of times I quit using it...

Check out the Pittsburgh Power week 2 exhibition game in the IFL from 2004:
hxxp://www.imperialfl.us/leaguehtml/2004schedule.html Whitener threw 25-39 for 293 yards, and rushed 23 times for 71 yards. Whitener is a cornerback. That was the week before I took over the team, so I don't know what the heck happened. |

Yadda yadda yadda. Someone just report this to Solecismic support. Maybe if it's not a huge fix, it can get fixed with the upcoming patch.

It's probably much more likely a bug with one of the gameplanners. I haven't checked with my old one.
