What is this war called?

You know, I haven't seen any names stick to this war yet. If you refer to Desert Storm or the Persian Gulf War, everyone knows what you're talking about but I haven't seen any titles like Persian Gulf II War or the Iraq War in the media. Even the operation name for this one (Iraq Freedom) hasn't caught on like the Desert Storm name did. What will historians call this war? A lot of people refer to this war as unfinished business and that's what it feels like, just a continuation of Desert Storm.

My bet is this will be the Second Persian Gulf War.

Or just the Second Gulf War.

Historians have done that sort of thing in the past.

Its officially called OPeRATION : Iraqi Freedom .
I prefer The Iraqi War though ,or The First War of The 21st Century or maybe The Prelude Before the Storm .

In light of our success with this method, I propose we sent an army of phycologists armed with printing machines into North Korea and bring them down from the inside .

Boy, you can say that again. The press told us this war would be covered like none other but damn is it wierd watching Ted Koppel in desert camos provide commentary while thousands of tanks, APCs, hummers and bridge layers roll north to Iraq behind him.

I dub thee the Smart War. The military is really applying psychological warfare in this battle and only hitting critical targets but we still haven't launched ground troops on the place that counts. Once we get near Baghdad is when Americans start to die. Unless we really killed Saddam Hussein or possible put him on life support as I just heard on CBS, the Iraqis already planned on giving us the open desert and mounting an urban defense. I hope Hussein's regime falls apart before our troops arrive in Baghdad.

But in theory, many "wars" were never really declared. For instance in the Vietnam War there was never a declaration of war but rather the Gulf of Tonkin Resoultion. It is still called the Vietnam War though.
