Computer Beeping
This is driving me nuts!
All was well with it yesterday. The only recent additions to it have been a DVD burner ( about 4 weeks ago ) and an ethernet ADSL modem ( 1 week ago ). Both of these were installed by me without a hitch. Today I switch the computer on and it starts to beep constantly from the motherboard. I have done several Google searches but nothing has come up. Any ideas? Comp: Dell Dimension 2400 2.4GHz Desktop running XP Home |

I'm not sure, but I know there have been similar threads about this. Might want to do a search. From what I remember, it is a bios issue or a motherboard issue. It could be something is not seated right in the motherboard, but I'm sure there are plenty of people who know more about this than me.

Dammit. I should have waited just that little bit longer before I posted.
I found a post via Google that mentioned a keyboard issue. I forgot that I had my PS/2 keyboard die on me so I bought a USB keyboard. I left the original keyboard plugged in and this was the cause of the beeping. I unplugged it and all was well. Thanks for trying to point me in the right direction. |
