OT: HBO's The Pacific War

From the creators of Band of Brothers. This looks like it will be another great one. It should be interesting to see the Pacific Theater receiving some attention. It's about as neglected as the Russian Front as far as WWII goes.

Sorry, we still have to wait another year (or more) before we can even really begin to get hyped. But I found this site pretty informative.

Wow, that should be great. Band of Brothers was incredible, I'm looking forward to this.

Awesome, this should be great.

I actually quite enjoyed Thin Red Line also, although I can easily see how a lot of people hated it. It wasn't a war movie in the sense of the way we're used to seeing, but very good in its own right. One of those movies were I sat around after it was over just thinking about it.

Doubt I'd sit through it again though.

They really did mislead with the advertising though.

and whos voiceover was that?

after i saw that, i sed "Malick" as a curse word. like, "Man, you really Malicked that test!"

I also loved the Thin Red Line as well. Great movie! Made you think, as opposed to all action all the time war movies.

Was Thin Red Line that movie where people stood around doing nothing for the first 5 hours? It may have been good but I got seriously tired of waiting for something/anything to happen.

It wasn't just one voiceover. Sometimes John Dee Smith (who played Private Train) and sometimes Ben Chaplin (who played Private Bell) did it.

I don't have HBO so the first time I got to see Band of Brothers is when the history channel started running it. I loved it, though. I bought the DVDs after watching it on TV and I think it is a pretty nice set. Really pricey though.

I would like to see a movie on The Battle of Bataan and Corregidor. As well as a series on resistance fighters of both Pacific and Euro theaters.
