My Alma Mater on ESPN 2, 2/3

Keep your eyes open for the Beloit College vs. Grinnell game. This should be a fairly entertaining game for a D III game. These are always high scoring games, and Beloit (my alma mater) plays an up tempo style of basketball.

Besides, with certain friends in attendance, you may see an interesting sign or two.

Grinnell will crush them, 180-146 is my prediction.

Isn't Grinnell the school that so famously plays an entire roster and plays the game like subs as though they were making line changes in a hockey game?

yup, and they shoot like 70 3 pters a game and hold the alltime points in a game record, hence my prediction.

The game starts at 8 PM Central.

Back in the day, we created a little havoc for the visiting team. As they read the "Midwest Conference Player/Spectator Code of Conduct", please know that I was 1/20 of the reason they put that in.

Hopefully things have not changed in Beloit.

I might be a homer, but I think it will be 116-108 Beloit. Flood Fieldhouse BABY!!!

Grinnell plays a crazy uptempto style, last year they averaged like 130 points a game.

I saw this game listed on TVGuide.com and couldnt figure out why the hell this would be on tv until I saw that Grinnell has led the nation in scoring 11 years in a row.

Does someone wanna save me the trouble of looking it up and tell me where either college is located?

Any update? I can't access a TV right now but sure would like Beloit to win considering I still know a couple of the players on the team from my time there.

Huge! Beloit won! My team comes through.

I can say that my school is the only DIII team to win a non-championship nationally televised game.

I was good to see the big crowd from Beloit and see them storm the court. Reminds me of my time there.

I can think of several small tier high school teams that could beat Grinnell, that was really kind of sad, the lack of talent.

I could have played Division III basketball, there is no doubt in my mind after watching that 'display'. I never knew just how much difference there was between the divisions until now.

In all fairness, these are two sub-500 DIII teams. ESPN's coverage is probably one year late. Grinnell had much better players last year.

When I went to Beloit in 1993-5, they had two years of only 2-5 loses. These teams were much better than the two you saw last night. The school's career leading scorer played at that time, and played better than Hinz. Quamme could shoot from 24 feet, and played big forward/center. Beloit had two other players that were offensive threats. Hinz scores because he is the only credible offensive player they have.
