Offseason

We have no goalies…..Tellqvist, and Centomo are both free agents…..is this the end of an era….will the champs bring in some new blood to tend net…………..

Mikael Tellqvist signs…..Im happy with him….he’s a lifer……

Alex Tanguay is pretty much the only notable that retired…..

Lundmark and Centomo have turned down my generous contract offers, and have both become free agents….well….I guess that’s goodbye to you both…..

Michael Deadmarsh did agree to a 6 year/ 5000000 dollar deal, with a team option…..I think im getting a great price…..He’s only 28….

There are some great names available in free agency this year….Jay Bouwmeester being the biggest….I would love to have him, but I’m gonna lay off for at least now…..

2-9-2015 Jay Bouwmeester agrees on a contract with Anaheim Mighty Ducks.
Jay Bouwmeester has signed a $4,500,000 per year, 2 year deal with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks. Detailed financial terms of the deal were not announced.

Damn, for that price….I should of signed him….

9-9-2015 Vincent Lecavalier agrees on a contract with Calgary Flames.
Vincent Lecavalier has signed a $6,500,000 per year, 2 year deal with the Calgary Flames. Detailed financial terms of the deal were not announced.

Interesting considering the real Stanley Cup this year…..

10-9-2015 Dany Heatley agrees on a contract with Columbus Blue Jackets.
Dany Heatley has signed a $8,000,000 per year, 4 year deal with the Columbus Blue Jackets. Detailed financial terms of the deal were not announced.

10-9-2015 Martin Havlat agrees on a contract with Colorado Avalanche.
Martin Havlat has signed a $5,000,000 per year, 2 year deal with the Colorado Avalanche. Detailed financial terms of the deal were not announced.

19-9-2015 Rostislav Klesla agrees on a contract with Detroit Red Wings.
Rostislav Klesla has signed a $3,500,000 per year, 3 year deal with the Detroit Red Wings. Detailed financial terms of the deal were not announced.++

26-9-2015 Jason Williams skated today for the 1st time sense last years terrible injury…..Im hoping he’ll be ready to play by opening day…..

29-9-2015 Toronto Maple Leafs trade
Toronto Maple Leafs traded Adrian Black and Vincent Bossé to Washington Capitals for WSH's round 2 pick in 2017

I would have liked to keep both of these guys to play on the rock….but they rejected contract offers, and refused to negoitiate…..

We usually don’t do anything at the waiver draft, but I only had 18 players to protect this year…..we could select 2 players without a chance of losing anyone….Brent Seabrook, a 8 year vet who played his whole career with Chicago, has a 85 defense rating was my 1st choice…..Miska Joukov, had 47 points with Washington last year…..a solid center……becomes my 2nd choice….

Carlo Colaiacovo is the 9th best defenseman in the league……Daniil Markhov is all of a sudden ranked as the 6th best center in the league…and he’s only 19….Tom Palat is the 8th best right winger…..It’s weird that Deadmarsh and Antropov are never on the list…..there the 2 best players in my opinion….

Centers
Daniil Markhov- starting to look like a rare player
Stewart Simon- great playoffs have given me lots of confidence in him
Keith Brocklehurst- needs 1st line to score, but he’s 3rd on the depth chart
Misha Joukov- could be a valuble piece
Zach Parise- a fixture on the 4th line….Tie Domi has become his trainer….
Kabok Nasenko- bumped to 13th man by Joukov

Wingers
Nik Antropov- starting to get old, though his play isn’t

3-10-2015 OTT-NYR trade
Ottawa Senators traded center Pierre-Marc Bouchard to New York Rangers for left wing Hugh Jessiman

Jessiman is a #3 defenseman….and Bouchard is coming off a 55 point season

Today is also Daniil Markhov’s 20th birthday…..The budding superstar is becoming all grown up….isnt that special…..

10-10-2015 Toronto Maple Leafs traded Walter Kruse and Douglas Hornsby to Calgary Flames for CGY's round 2 pick in 2017

Dumping 2 more unsigned guys…..

14-10-2015 Detroit Red Wings traded Andrei Rosovsky to St. Louis Blues for St. Louis Blues 2nd round pick in 2017 draft

I guess Rosovsky wasn’t working out in Detroit either…..

15-10-2015 Markhov suffered a groin injury….ouch….and will miss about a week….we got lucky that its only a week……

31-10-2015 Good news…Stewart Simon has continued his scoring pace….he’s got 10 points in 11 games this year…..The concussion has not effected him, and he is solidly entrenched on the 2nd line…..

18-11-2015 Jason Williams hasn’t lost a thing….the injury has not slowed him down….He has 12 goals, and 21 points in 18 games this year…nice….

19-11-2015 Al Montoya has looked great….in 5 games…he’s 5-0, with a 1.79gaa, and a .933sp…..believe it or not, these are the 1st 5 games Montoya has played in the NHL…..

21-11-2015 We have won 10 games in a row…10….I feel like we’re unbeatable right now….oh, wait a sec…we are

23-11-2015 Toronto 4, Vancouver 1…11 in a row

25-11-2015 Toronto 2, Ottawa 3…..BASTARDS

29-11-2015 Calgary is been trying to get Adrian Ahole for a year now….They finally gave me an offer I couldn’t refuse…..

Toronto Maple Leafs traded Adrian Ahole to Calgary Flames for Kjril Shanin and Kyle Chipchura

Shanin is a former leaf prospect…we don’t care about him…Chipichura is a 2nd line center….19 points this year…..very good player…70 points last year, and just 29….I just don’t know where I will play him….

We are 19-4-0-1, for 39 points….1st overall

Stanislav Vsevolodov, because of his age, not his play goes down to ST. John’s….He doesn’t have to clear waivers……Chipichura needed a spot in the lineup….SV ( don’t want to keep writing that name) had 9 points, and was developing well….

8-12-2015 Montoya is know 10-0…..his 1st ten games in the NHL….all winds…..I forget what Patrik Lalime’s record was….it’s getting hard not to make him the starter…..

14-12-2015 Tor 5, Cal 4 in OT….Down 4-2 late in the 3rd, Torres and Deadmarsh score twice in the last 2 minutes…Palat scores in OT….
Montoya 11-0-0-0

21-12-2015 Tor 3, Cbs 2 in OT….Palat scores OT winner again
Montoya 12-0-0-0

27-12-2015 Tor 3, Was 3
Montoya got into a fight during the overtime…..there was a little brawl….So Tellqvist got the decision
Montoya 12-0-0-0

30-12-2015 Tor 2, Pit 3
Montoya looses his 1st game…..12-1-0-0….damn…stupid refs

2-1-2016 Toronto Maple Leafs players selected to World Junior Championships
World Junior Championships (U-20) in icehockey are about to start. The following players from Toronto Maple Leafs organization have been selected to represent their countries:

-Blazej Miller (CZE)
-Anatoli Shvakov (BLR)
-Mikulas Panzner (CZE)
-Éric Patry (CAN)
-Ken Piro (CAN)
-Brian Malgunas (CAN)

16-1-2016 Alex Ponikarovsky scored his 400th point today…..a very solid career for a defensive specialist…..

18-1-2016 Only Mikael Tellqvist was selected to the all-star game….He has had a great bounce back season…which is why Montoya isn’t starting…..Our other perennial all-stars have not dominated like usual….our depth may be taking points away from them……amazingly, this is Tellqvist’s 1st appearance….

29-1-2016 I want more scoring….Deadmarsh has 44 points, Antropov 43, Williams 42, Markhov 37, Palat 32, in about 50 games…..NOT GOOD ENOUGH…I like offense….time to step it up boys…..

Despite my complaints…we are 35-11-0-5….thats 75 points, 1 up on Atlanta for 1st in the league

Feb 1st- March 14th trade deadline…..

8-2-2016 North America 13, World 7….Tellqvist didn’t even play…..He’s the best goalie in the league this year hands down, and he didn’t play…..

It is looking like Markhov is regressing a bit….He got so good, so fast…..He played so well, so young….that we started expecting the world from him….I’ve got to remember he is just 20…..and still much better then anyone his age in the world…..

14-2-2016 Markhov responds to my comments with 4 points in 2 games…..keep it coming Danny……

23-2-2016 Mikael Tellqvist played his 40th game of the year today….a 3-0 shutout over Atlanta…..It had seemed like age was catching up for the Leaf lifer……his past 3 season featured 2.75, 2.79, and 2.80 gaa’s….His top sp during those years….892. This shutout pushed Tellqvist’s gaa down to 1.96, and his sp upto .913…..Scoring is still up in the league, so these numbers are amazing…..Rick Dipietro, 2nd on the gaa list, has a 2.68 gaa…

24-2-2016 We are on a 11 game unbeaten streak….so now I’m counting…..

26-2-2016 NJ 1, Tor 2…..12 games unbeaten

27-2-2017 Tor 4, Buf 0….13 games unbeaten

1-3-2017 Tor 4, LA 2…..14 games unbeaten
Daniil Markhov gets 2 goals today…giving him 200 points in his career…..200 points, in his 1st 3 seasons, at the age of 20….quite an accomplishment…….

3-3-2016 Ott 3, Tor 3…..15 games unbeaten

6-3-2016 NYR 4, Tor 1….It’s over

I just hired a new scout to come in and evaluate my Leafs….Check out what he says about Markhov…..
Code:
Daniil Markhov is a natural all-around offensive player ...he likes to play a physical game ...he is a fast skater, who can leave the defensemen standing ...he can release a hard accurate slapshot or a blazing wrister past the goalie ...he has lightining quick hands that can do miracles with the puck ...he is a constant offensive threat and can create scoring opportunities and make wonderful plays whenever on ice ...he positions himself well on the ice and marks his men without much trouble ...he masters at taking away the space from opposing attackers and forcing them to cough up the puck ...he is a faceoff specialist ...come playoff time, he can be a valuable presence in the locker room and on the ice ...he could be a super star some day He could play well together with: Carlo Colaiacovo Jeff Woywitka Kyle Chipchura Potential:superb Consistency:good Loyalty:mediocre Overview of current skills / projected: Fighting 39 / 44 Shooting 74 / 89 Playmaking 104 / 139 Stickhandling 102 / 152 Checking 107 / 143 Positioning 69 / 76 Hitting 70 / 76 Skating 79 / 91 Endurance 99 / 149 Penalty 89 / 87 Faceoffs 85 / 100 Leadership 73 / 152 Strength 69 / 104 Scouted by: Burt Johnson
Holy shit….I never realized he could be this good……Ive never seen anyone this good….I didn’t even know the ratings could go over 101……

We are 48-13-0-8…104 points….my best team ever…..In 1st by 7 points…

March 14th trade deadline- end of the regular season

CHI-MIN trade
Chicago Blackhawks traded defenseman Nikita Golovastov and center Miroslav Kaberle to Minnesota Wild for left wing Nikolai Zherdev and MIN 5th round pick in 2017 draft

Zherdev is easily the best player in this deal…He’s averaged 70 points a year with Minnesota

Phoenix Coyotes traded defenseman Lennart Boden to Columbus Blue Jackets for right wing Lukas Kaspar

Lukas Kasper is struggling after a 76 point year…Boden is a 28 year old ahl defenseman….trade makes no sense

Phoenix Coyotes traded defenseman Ctirad Kougl and defenseman Bruce Bush to Washington Capitals for right wing Lee Sylvester

Kougl is a #2 or 3 defenseman….Sylvester is a year removed from a 38 goal season…on pace for about 25 this year…..

Washington Capitals traded right wing Darby Pederson to Chicago Blackhawks for center Knut Varlamov

This is a BLOCKBUSTER…Knut Varlamov is a 90 offense…..He’s 24….His last 2 years, he had 74 and 78 points…although for some reason, the scout who scouted him thinks he will be a career minor leaguer….The Black Hawks get nothing back….a 3rd liner capable of scoring 15 goals…..It would have been nice to see Varlamov playing with Zherdev….Idiots……

28-3-2016 Im tired of this damn balanced scoring…….I WANT DOMINANCE…..I want 1 line of offensive DOMINANCE….Sigh….One day….soon…..i hope

4-4-2016 Markhov is not having the season I envisioned for him…..He is slumping pretty badly right now….though his ratings are improving….we need him to step up in the playoffs……

Media pundits are predicting Toronto to win their 2nd straight Cup in 5 games

Theres no doubt in my mind that the Leafs are the better team.....Detroit has some fire power, they can score....Samsonov, Gomez, Jokinen, Klesla.....They can match just about anyone offensively....but defensivly, they dont come close to us.....Toronto is the premiere defensive team in the NHL, and Detroit can't compete with that....Mikael Tellqvist his has a huge advantage Sebastien Caron....Caron isnt in Tellqvist league....Im expecting a sweep

Up next....the Stanley Cup

Offseason

Daniil Markhov’s contract is now up…..It’s pay day, and he knows it….He’s asking for 11 million…..i don’t really have any choice though…..

OH wait…I have a option on Markhov’s contract….his big payday wont come tell next year…..

We sign a 23 year old kid name Phil Prosteman….former 7th overall pick by Tampa…..may be in the same category as Michael Deadmarsh….my scouts love him….he’ll be given a chance….

We also signed 24 year old Jason Carver….Nice upside….Scouts love him….pretty much no risk….scored 181 goals in the last 2 years in the ECHL…Former 2nd round pick of Carolina…..

Brad Stuart, JS Giguere, Sergei Samsonov, Eric Brewer, Scott Gomez, Wade Redden, Tomas Kaberle, Ed Jovanoski, and Alexi Ponikarovsky call it a career….

Misha Joukov won’t be back…..we don’t really need him….

Toronto Maple Leafs traded Sergei Krasnov to Washington Capitals for WSH's round 3 pick in 2017

Krasnov was a unsigned 25 year old, with decent skills….he’ll get a chance in Washington

1-9-2016 Maxime Daigneault agrees on a contract with New Jersey Devils.
Maxime Daigneault has signed a $4,000,000 per year, 4 year deal with the New Jersey Devils. Detailed financial terms of the deal were not announced.

A lot of money for a career backup goalie

2-9-2016 Daniel Sedin agrees on a contract with St. Louis Blues.
Daniel Sedin has signed a $5,500,000 per year, 1 year deal with the St. Louis Blues. Detailed financial terms of the deal were not announced.

2-9-2016 Tommy Hurlbut agrees on a contract with Edmonton Oilers.
Tommy Hurlbut has signed a $12,000,000 per year, 3 year deal with the Edmonton Oilers. Detailed financial terms of the deal were not announced.

Sense when did Edmonton sign 12 million dollar men….Hurlbut is the best defensive forward in the league…Oh and he averages a point a game

29-8-2016 Stefan Liv agrees on a contract with Anaheim Mighty Ducks.
Stefan Liv has signed a $4,500,000 per year, 1 year deal with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks. Detailed financial terms of the deal were not announced.

He’ll take over for Giguere

4-9-2016 Dan Hamhuis agrees on a contract with New York Rangers.

Kari Lehtonen has signed a $7,500,000 per year, 2 year deal with the Atlanta Thrashers. Detailed financial terms of the deal were not announced.

Atlanta had to bring him back

6-9-2016 Simon Gagné agrees on a contract with Colorado Avalanche.
Simon Gagné has signed a $4,500,000 per year, 2 year deal with the Colorado Avalanche. Detailed financial terms of the deal were not announced.

Pretty cheap price for the former Flyer…..

9-9-2016 Anton Volchenkov agrees on a contract with Philadelphia Flyers.

Former Sen is a solid offensive defenseman…..

9-9-2016 NYR-CGY trade

Centers
Daniil Markhov- ready for 1st line duty, and the 100 pont barrier
Kyle Chipchura- had a great playoff, and clicks well with Markhov
Kabok Nasenko- trying to crack the line-up as a regular
Zach Parise- 4th line again
Stewart Simon- should be a consistant 60 point man
Keith Brocklehurst- became obvious he needs top 2 lines to score

Wings
Nik Antropov- will get his 1000th point in his last year
Raffi Torres- Hoping he can get back to 20 goals
Jason Williams- 36 year old played whole season, but had lowest point total in a while
Tom Palat- had a off year, but Im not concerned at all
Michael Deadmarsh- He’s 29, and time is running out for 50
Stanislav Vsevolodov- Would dominate the AHL….he is ready..
Radislav Hooter- 84 points on the rock last year….he is also ready

Defense
Carlo Colaiacovo- A true #1 defenseman
Jeff Woywitka- Another true #1 defenseman
John Doherty- great production for only 1.9 mil
Mike Card- played himself back to regular duty
Brent Seabrook- Best waiver pickup ever….for me
Alexi Galankin- He is really good now…and will get better….possible anchor
Angus MacGyver- Solid # 7, though I may have better options on the rock

Goalies
Mikael Tellqvist- 1 win from Ed Belfour in the top 5
Al Montoya- probable starter next season when Tellqvist hangs em up…..

11-10 Mikael Tellqvist gets 3 wins, and 2 shutouts….earning him the player of the weeks award…..

21-10-2016 7 games, 7 wins…..I know this team is good…..but I didn’t think we were this good….of course I could be jumping to conclusions here……I think the record for consecutive wins to start a season is 10…by the 93-94 Maple Leafs….the 10th win actually came in Tampa, the same night Joe Carter’s game 6 homer ended the world series….

25-10-2016 Tor 5, Min 0
Deadmarsh gets goal #7….this is the year me thinks…..

Daniil Markhov signed a 5 year extension today….worth 9,000,000……He’s playing like he’s worth it…..So I just got it over with…..

2-11-2016 Keith Brocklehurst has 2 points in 11 games…He’s playing with Stewart Simon and Raffi Torres, so it’s not like they can’t convert his passes….Im putting him on the trade block….give him a chance to go somewhere to possibly play a front line role……

34 year old Steve Ott, of your Mighty Ducks of Anaheim is absolutely tearing it up….12 goals, 12 assists, in…you guessed it, 12 games…..Bravo….

5-11-2016 New Millionaire Danill Markhov is earning his contract….9 goals, 14 assists, 23 points, in 15 games….

8-11-2016 Kyle Chipchura is out for a month with a leg injury….he was playing well…with 8 goals on the 1st line…..A huge opportunity opens up to play with Markhov and Deadmarsh….who will grab it?

10-11-2016 Time to celebrate…Daniil Markhov is the player of the week….what did he have to do for this honour……5 goals, 2 assists, in 4 games will do it…..

Radislav Hooter was won the open spot on our top line…for how long, that depends on him…..

15-11-2016 3 games and 0 points later….Hooter looses the job….Vsvoldov or whatever his name is will get a shot…..

21-11-2016 Nik Antropov will miss a month with a arm injury…..Our depth is gonna be tested….

22-11-2016 Nino Stangassinger, up replacing Antropov gets 3 points in a 3-2 win over the Flames in his debut…..
