Fred vs Bosstones - to me this is a no-brainer, but I didn't expect Fred to get 23 votes the first time out either...
Semisonic vs Iron Butterfly - hmmm...after In-A-Gadda's strong support in round 1 this could be extremely close. McFerrin vs Nu Shooz - I expect this to be lopsided... Twisted Sister vs Vangelis - this one too... Last edited by Breeze : 12-10-2019 at 08:41 AM. |

Tough group...
EDIT: Went with Chariots of Fire in the last one, I like both songs, but being a piano player am a sucker for a good keyboard instrumental like that. Last edited by Warhammer : 12-10-2019 at 08:58 AM. |

bosstones are mehh. It's a good song. But Fred's is more catchy to me. And I think I'm uisually the opposite. But horncentered music doesn't totally do it for me outside of CHicago.
Iron Butterfly with one of the first metal songs ever just has so much power. An epic Closing Time is such a throwaway for drunks and sitcom watchers Nu Shooz vs McFerrin ...um...they are both kinda the same genre. And I like both in the same way. Would give it to Mcferrin because of his solo talent tho We're not gonna take it hands down. Vangelis is just easy listening |

Fred vs Bosstones - back and forth voting on this one, 'tones got a nice spurt at the end to pull it out...and they are facing another interesting match up next round.
Semisonic vs Butterfly - also back and forth...voting really seemed to mirror the match up above... McFerrin vs Shooz - easy win as expected Sister vs Vangelis - also an easy win as expected...and Sister continues to look strong in this pod... |

I irrationally hold it against Closing Time that Leonard Cohen sang a song with the same title and I have a .5 second moment when I see it that I'm sad it's not the Cohen version.

I've never heard this version of the song before but I think it's worth posting:
