When I think of those teams, I think of Kruk first, and then Daulton. They were like two sides of the same coin for me. Kruk was the "fun" and Daulton was the "tough." It was fun to watch those Philliies play.

Oh yea, Dykstra was definitely in that, too. Those Phillies all seemed dirty and grimy lol. But they were fun.

That season was the pinnacle of my sports fandom. To me it's the last great year of MLB and not the games per se, but my baseball purity. It all fell apart with the strike and expansion. The last vestiges of my childhood game. I loved that team and I loved those guys. Right out of the gate it was clear there was something very special about that team. The very definition of a team that was soooo much better than the sum of its parts. It all came together for one glorious year. RIP Dutch.
