Me, the wife, and a couple friends will be in town starting Saturday.

1) Name me a really good Italian place. Our Anniversary on Sunday, wanna go somewhere super good.

2) If anyone cares to join our motley crew for drinks, (we're in town through Tuesday), lemme know.

You definitely want to do North End. Very cool walkable neighborhood (and also walking distance to Fanueil Hall) with many Italian restaurants, so you can go for a stroll after dinner then hit up one of the amazing dessert shops too. Prezza would be my best guess, but Aria's Trattoria, Carmelina's & Neptune (if you like seafood too) could all be in the mix, but I didn't go for that price range often so I don't have personal recommendations - this'll give you a better handle on the different ambiances Best North End Restaurants in Boston - Boston Magazine

Wherever you pick... make it a North End restaurant. You almost can't go wrong. You could just wander around the side streets and pick one that looks good. If there is a line, it will be good. The downside to that option is that you will have to wait. And it might be a long wait as many of the restaurants are very small.

Giacomo's is really good but the line will be LONG. It is on the casual side. Probably too casual for an anniversary.
Mamma Maria's is high end. Suitable for an anniversary.

You will enjoy just walking the neighborhood so skip desert and find your own spot for cannoli or/or drinks. Don't forget the side streets. There is much more to the north end than just Hanover Street.

Second vote for Mama Maria. Had a great dinner there a few years ago. Very cozy environment.

My foodie Bostonian friends are also talking about a plac called Aqua Pazza.
