I like to call my own plays and stuff.. and yet i cannot choose to kickoff if i win the coin toss
just a small pet peeve really.. i prefer to get the ball to start the 2nd half |

If you could I'd recommend chosing to defer rather than kickoff.

Ah, yes, of course. I'm not usually a stickler for relatively little things, but it annoys me a LITTLE bit when a football game gives you the option to "kick" when you win a coin toss. Sure, you COULD choose to kick, but then your opponent should be able to choose to receive at the start of the second half.
It all essentially adds up to the same thing in the video game universe, but it has happened in the NFL that a team got to receive the opening kickoff AND the second-half kickoff in the same game because the coin toss winner chose to kick.

Noone in their right mind would choose to kickoff. If you chose to kickoff, you'd get the ball in neither half. |

Basically, since I just said that (although in a much more verbose way), I'll retort with this: You wouldn't necessarily get the ball in neither half. The other team may choose to kickoff at the start of the second half.

Does the NFL use the 'differ' option? I'm thinking this is just a high school thing, but I'm not sure.

Sure, the NFL allows teams to defer.

College and NFL both allow teams to defer their decision to the start of the 2nd half if they win the toss. |
