License help!! Still can't play game
I'm having some serious problems getting FOF2004 to work on my PC.
I wrote out my problem a little earlier today and HornedFrog Purple was nice enough to help me out, but I still haven't been able to get it to work. Here is what happened...I bought the game, played it without problem for 3 days. Then I go to fire it up and I get the message: "FRFOOT2004.EXE: Sorry, could not get a license at this time. Please try running program again later. 23 0 " I have tried everything to get rid of this, I have un-installed the FOF, used the E-License remover, re-downloaded the game, ran a virus check....but nothing has worked. I run Windows ME if that means anything. When I go into the control panel and look under the ELicense folder, everything is blank. Those jokers at Viatech I have heard are always slow to get back to people and sure enough they haven't gotten back to me yet. So if anyone has had this problem or knows how I could fix it, I would greatly appreciate any advice. Thanks. Gavin |

I recently emailed "those jokers at Viatech" on a SUNDAY, and had a resolution in less than 3 hours.

What address are you using to e-mail ViaTech?
I've had to contact them numerous times in the past two years for multiple versions of FOF and OOTP and it has *never* taken them longer than 20 minutes (no exaggeration) to respond (you will learn to know and love the name Mary Ellen Girard ). Most people that I know around here have had similar, very positive experiences with them, so I'm not sure where you heard that they were "always slow to get back to people." If you're not already, make sure you send your e-mail to [email protected] (NOT @viatech.com). And while I can't say for certain that it's the cause of your problems, I do have to recommend getting away from Windows ME. It's a horrible excuse for an operating system and it's riddled with problems. If you can, upgrade (or even downgrade to Win98 SE) as soon as humanly possible. |

I've also always gotten excellent support from ViaTech. I'm surprised you've heard bad things.

I have had problems with Viatech before taking awhile to respond to my questions. But I guess maybe "jokers" was a little strong, I just want to play FOF again! Can you blame me for being a little grumpy?
I would love to upgrade to a better version of windows, but I can barely afford the buy game itself. |

If it makes you feel better, I've been dealing with them for a week now...have gotten one response with no resolution to the problem and haven't been able to get another response.
