CL Honors 2115 Slick Fielder Award Winners
Wednesday, October 30th, 2115 What does it take to win a Slick Fielder Award? It's a combination of good hands, knowing how to play the hitters, all-out hustle and a willingness to sacrifice your body to make a play. Good speed and a good arm never hurt, either, but not always required. This year's all-defense team in the Continental League consists of: Pitcher: Chris Martin (Havana Banana Sluggers) Catcher: Ryan Garrett (Oshawa Mullets) First Baseman: Sergio Báez (Washington Freedom) Second Baseman: Juan Cedeño (Oshawa Mullets) Third Baseman: Mun-yeong Kim (Oshawa Mullets) Shortstop: Lawrence Powell (Oshawa Mullets) Left Fielder: Mauro Pérez (Manchester Terriers) Center Fielder: Gastone Scotti (Omaha Bees) Right Fielder: Augusto Palácios (Washington Freedom) Slick Fielder Award Winners in RL Announced Wednesday, October 30th, 2115 Any pitcher would love to have these defenders on the field backing them up. They are the best glovemen in the Republic League for 2115. This year's Slick Fielder Award winners are: Pitcher: Gabriel Carmona (Spring Lions) Catcher: Pat Johnson (Las Vegas Wildcats) First Baseman: Alfredo Fuentes (Spring Lions) Second Baseman: Cristóbal Olivas (Maricopa Rattlers) Third Baseman: Matt Knight (Las Vegas Wildcats) Shortstop: Dani Ríos (Maricopa Rattlers) Left Fielder: Ramón Bermúdez (Ann Arbor Wolverines) Center Fielder: Ramón Reyes (Las Vegas Wildcats) Right Fielder: Bartolo Ramos (Maricopa Rattlers)

Great top end talent in this draft!
A few potential Hofer in there! I counted 8 guys that i REALLY wanted.... Of course i drafted 9th! Fortunately some went off the board and picked someone i didnt want and i landed one of my desired guys.

London got a gift at 2 - I know Guerra was talented, but I could never take a 4 Eye talent at #1.

I can't remember how talented SP Juan Martinez is, but I do remember my impression that there were I think two SPs that I felt were top level talent, and I know I didn't have any chance at them. The best talent I saw was in the lineup, so I was disappointed to somehow still end up with a pitcher.
I feel like I am on a streak where I always end up with pitchers for my high draft picks. I'm not saying I dislike that. It's nice to always have a steady stream of solid to sometimes spectacular pitchers, especially when they cost so much in free agency. But it has really left me scrambling to fill holes in my lineup with top end talent, because that talent is just not coming through my system too often.

There is a balance on that. I am like that with Eye talent, too. But at some point, you have to recognize that that guy has the ability to win both batting titles and homerun titles. There is tremendous value in that, even if it's blunted by a lack of walks. Plus, he is also top notch in GAP, so lots of base clearing potential in that bat. In a weaker draft, if he had fallen to me at 11, I would have been quite happy with him (I think this draft was so top-end deep, though, I had him ranked below my top pick).

I've fallen into a similar "trap" over the years.
Plus OOTP13 seems to create a lot of top-end RHB....and that's not exactly preferred for me. I'd rather take a pitcher over a RHB unless it's clear that they're the best talent left anyways. I get too worried about a split that hates RHP.

Oh yeah - I had him ranked 5th or 6th or something like that. He absolutely will be a monster, and he'll hit more BECAUSE he's not walking so much. Personal preference

London scored huge imo. Not the # 2 pick...either way they were going to land a stud there, i am just working from memory here, but i beleive their 2nd round pick was the guy i had slotted at #9. Sure he is a 1b, and a poor fielder, but he is a lefty with 9con, 9pow. Serious offensive potential for a 2nd rounder. Of course, i may be totally mis-remembering him too .

The beta version of the Hockey Manager is out.
Bad news is you have to preorder to play the beta version.... Im going to do it because Im a sucker for hockey. I dont know what functionality is available in the beta version, but if there is multiplayer, if someone else is pre-ordering let me know and we'll test this puppy out!
