I disagree. I think the sheer density of information you see in a complex management simulation is much more in need of breathing room than a FPS. Anyone remember trying to play Europa Univeralis at 800x600? The smaller the screen size, the more number of clicks it takes to get to information. And getting to information easily is one of the most important concepts in a sim. Joe |

Alright, I've been trying a few 35 x 35 logos out, and here are some examples for the CFLers out there:

information should never get in the way of a good static picture.

Mizzou, both of your renditions look great! I do so more real estate on the screen than can be used by design but that's just my opinion.

Thanks! Hey, at least it's a start for Jim. It might sound meaningless, but having even that little 35x35 graphic does something for me as far as immersion goes. Todd |

I agree. Kinda hard to notice them unless you look up at the corner and are looking for them, specifically. |

nice work. I agree it sounds meaningless if you think of the tiny helmets as a step towards a graphical interface (which I don't think they are), but I think they are meaningful if you think of them as just a nice added touch to a TEXT sim (instant replay in TCY notwithstanding). I think having a graphic, even if small, helps you associate a player with his team. |

Do the player card colors change w/ the players?
I.E. Time Browns card would be Silver & Black, Jeff Garcia's would be Red and Gold... |

From what I've gathered in the threads about 2k4 is that your team colors or whatever colors you select would be used for the player cards and any other team functions you select. This comes from the description at the solescismic site "The game comes with 32 team color schemes and 32 textured bitmaps for optional use with most screens. You can also use this screen to edit the color schemes to come up with a design that suits your own tastes. " edited to add the quote Last edited by Sweed : 11-02-2003 at 02:59 PM. |

Here's a graphic for the incoming draftees.
Todd edit: to avoid confusion, I'm taking logos out until the game is out and I'm sure they work ok. Last edited by MizzouRah : 11-05-2003 at 12:04 PM. |

You guys are good. I should have begged you for some generic logos for the release version.
At that size, you're right, logos are better than helmets. |

All I do is resize, I couldn't draw a stick figure.
Is there any way to get the naming and file formats for these logos so I can have both sets zipped up and ready to go for release? Also, Skydog.... could this thread be sticky? People will be asking where the logos, player file, backdrops, etc.. for FOF 2004 this time around. For some reason, it seems as if FOF 2004 has bigger hype than FOF4 did. Thanks, Todd |

Maybe my final set....
Set #4 These have more color. Todd I'm going to repost all of these in the proper format, renamed and ready to go when the game comes out. Just trying to keep them all in one place for the moment. edit: to avoid confusion, I'm taking logos out until the game is out and I'm sure they work ok. Excellent work MizzouRah. Those look very crisp and clean. It truly is amazing how well these logos have turned out at only 35x35.

Thanks for the kind words.
I now have 6 sets done, I must be a "little" graphic nerd. I think I'll do some team specific backgrounds once the game comes out as well, if possible. Maybe a white background within the game with a logo or something? Todd Last edited by MizzouRah : 11-04-2003 at 11:03 PM. |

So we can make our own backgrounds for the game?

With reshacker you can pretty much do what you want with the bitmaps in the game. Although with all the new screens, you might have to do it like Fritz showed instead of in the game itself. Todd |

It's a utility that allows you to change various .bmp's within FOF or TCY. (Actually any game that uses a certain programming language).
I'm no programmer, and it's been easy to use to change say, the scoreboard in FOF4. I believe Dutch has a website with all the info and the tool. I'm at work, so I don't have his site address, but you can look up his username and he has it listed in his profile. Todd |
