If so, try Pickens County, GA (where I grew up). There's a couple dozen or more teachers at every grade level making that this year.
Open.Georgia.gov

Couple dozen here in Clarke Co too for that matter, although those tend to be skewed toward specialty subjects rather than general classroom teachers.

edit to add: I know the conversation moved toward retirement pay but I interpreted your original comment as being about that dollar level for working (i.e. "when NOT retired").

Well, my wife is a reading specialist fwiw and looking to get her doctorate to move into a central office position, so I'll be skewed away from this anyways.

But, I'm honestly surprised to see these numbers - and still questioning things like 75k average around chicago...

http://www.careerbliss.com/salary/te...laries-686205/ seems to not match what these guys are saying for instance.

Or this.. http://www.teachersalaryinfo.com/ave...-illinois.html

A few teachers at the upper end at 70k is a lot different than the AVERAGE pay being 75k when you're going to have a majority of teachers in years 1-3 because of the dropout rate of teachers.

SI
Most of the wealthier North Shore suburbs average just under 6-figures. Pretty sure this is the school she taught at since she had mentioned teaching the girl who played Cameron on House.

I know most of the schools in the area pay based on your education level and years of experience. I know a lot of teachers at my old high school were making over $100,000 a year.

70k+ a year? 180-ish of work per year? Unions that makes it nearly impossible to be fired? I'm in.

Or this.. Earn More! Average Teacher Salary in Illinois, IL Teaching Salaries

The first link is for Chicago Public Schools, and the 2nd link is for the entire state. That's very different from the northern suburbs. In a suburban school like New Trier, the average is...well, what I said it is.

I get a glimpse of New Trier on the expressway and their football field is nicer than many FCS schools.

F-35 looking more like white elephant

WASHINGTON (AFP) – The F-35 fighter jet, set to replace a large part of the US warplane fleet, has become the most expensive weapons program ever, drawing increased scrutiny at a time of tight public finances.

Following a series of cost overruns and delays, the program is now expected to cost a whopping 382 billion dollars, for 2,443 aircraft...

Defense officials say the original cost estimates have now doubled to make each plane's price tag reach some 92 million dollars.

I can tell you for a fact I know of new (1-2 years out of school) teachers working in a need subject starting at $50k per year in the Chicago Public Schools.

It gets better. You only need to work one day to be eligible for an over $100k/year pension.

I actually never had a real issue with the salaries; It's more of the benefits (including pensions) package that comes with it that I want changed.

Pumping 382 billion dollars into our economy for military superiority? That' dumb...let's get rid of military superiority and pump 382 billion dollars into entitlement programs for people laid off from the defense industry. That makes more sense!
