FOOL-X 2043 Offseason Thread

I'm starting the offseason thread a few days early this week to welcome a new member to the FOOL-X community. Please welcome TroyD as the new GM of the St. Louis Hops!

Troy is a long time veteran of OOTP, having played in online leagues since ootp6.5 He is the commish of the ootp league hardball chronicles, and of note for several members in this league, he is an avid fan of several other simulation games (such as football and basketball at the least that I know of).

I'm sure Troy is going to help add further to a great league here and am excited to have him join!

On the plus side for you guys, I can't afford to extend contracts so some pretty good players are being released to FA after this season!

Bob Joly Latest FOOLX HOF Inductee
Saturday, March 7th, 2043: One of the best players ever, catcher Bob Joly, has received the ultimate honor for a baseball player -- being inducted into the FOOL-X Hall of Fame.

The induction ceremony, which was held today, included tributes from his former teammates. One of them recognized his unparalleled work ethic, another his "naturally pure" swing, and yet another, his love for the game.

Joly received numerous awards during his playing days, but he said, nothing can compare to being enshrined into the Hall of Fame.

In a career spanning 2560 games, Joly batted .309 with 3201 hits, 562 home runs, 1934 RBIs and 1572 runs scored.

Closer Installed in Hall of Fame
Saturday, March 7th, 2043: His beautiful bronze plaque on the wall said it all: 554 saves, 87 wins, and a 3.85 ERA. Those stats got Gil Pajetta elected to the FOOL-X Hall of Fame, and today the bullpen star gained his rightful place among the baseball legends.

In a jovial mood, Pajetta said in his induction speech, "I especially want to thank all the starting pitchers who couldn't go nine innings...they got me here."

In 1077 games, he pitched 1228 innings, struck out 1314 batters, walked 602, and had a 87-77 won-lost mark.

I believe for ROY it is service time that makes them eligible. In this case 2 years and 1 day disqualifies him.
