Record Breakers: A FOFC Poster Elimination Dynasty (OOTP 11)
This is a player elimination dynasty using Out of the Park Baseball 11. I have created players for each of the top 20 active posters on FOFC, 10 pitchers and 10 position players. Each of the players will start at age 20 in the draft, and I will follow their progress, with the worst players in each season being eliminated until there is only one of each category left as the winner.
I have tried to keep the players balanced with all having solid current ratings and near-maximum potentials, but there are some differences as well just to make things different. Rules: The first two seasons (the half season after the players are drafted and the next full season) will have no elimination. This will allow the players to develop a bit. If most of the players are still in the minors at this point, I may consider allowing a third grace season. After this grace period, each season the players performances will be evaluated and (except for the rules below) the player I judge to be worst in each category, hitting and pitching, will be eliminated from the game and retired. Each player will get one injury exemption during his career – this will let him stay in the game for one season if he suffers a serious injury. If a player leads his league in a major category (for hitters – Home Runs, batting average, and RBIs. For pitchers ERA, Wins, and strikeouts) then they cannot be eliminated the next season. This exemption cannot be saved up over multiple seasons. Only the three worst players in each category can possibly be eliminated in any season. This means that if the three bottom players all had an injury exemption or a category leader exemption, there is no elimination that season. This rule only applies if there are 5 or more players left in the group. If a player is in the minor leagues, I will still compare their performances but they will receive a slight penalty. If a player retires from the game or suffers a career ending injury they are out of the competition. I have started the game with a basic 2010 major league quickstart and drafted the players in the 2011 draft. Draft Results Last edited by Peregrine : 07-07-2010 at 08:50 AM. |

Pitchers
For those unfamiliar with the Out of the Park system, pitchers have three primary stats - Stuff, Movement and Control. They are rated in their current levels, as well as their potential levels, on a 1-20 scale. I have set the potentials to be sky-high and the current levels to be around 10. Pitchers also have a velocity rating indicating how fast their best pitches are, and a ground ball percentage indicating how often hitters pop up versus hit the ball on the ground. Pitchers also have individual pitches, also rated with current and potentials on a 1-20 scale. All of this data is at the end of the first season (2011.)

Batters
Batters in OOTP have quite a few key stats - their hitting skills are rated on overall Contact, Gap Power, Homerun Power, hitting Eye/Discipline, and Avoiding Strikeouts. As well they have various ratings in fielding (all good) and some have good speed and baserunning skills.

Stats at the end of the first season - again including all levels of play. Notice that JonIMGA is showing with no team - that is because although he was drafted third overall by the Pirates, they could not come to terms with his bonus demands and he will go back to the draft again next year.

2012 Season
This was the season where most of our players made it to the majors in a big way. At the end of the season all of the players except Isiddiqui (AAA) are in the majors. Also, JonInMiddleGA was re-drafted (first overall) by the Pirates and this time signed with them. In other news, the Arizona Diamondbacks moved their team to Austin, TX and are now the Austin Riders. Leaders Stevew had a fantastic season this year for the Pirates. Not only was he named the National League Rookie of the Year, but he led that league in batting average with .369, earning himself an exemption for next year. He barely beat out Chief Rum who hit .344 for the Dodgers this season, as well as leading the league in stolen bases. Injuries AlanT suffered a torn rotator cuff in the offseason and missed the entire 2012 season. MizzouRah had to have Tommy John surgery at the end of last year and only pitched 9 games for Cleveland this season. Stats

2013 Season
All of our players were in the majors this year and some really stepped up. The Tampa Bay Rays won the World Series this year, over the Atlanta Braves. Leaders Poli really made his mark this year, winning the American League MVP with a .332 batting average and 134 RBIs, but he did not lead in any category. In the National League, Chief Rum took home the MVP honors, leading the league in batting at .376. DeToxRox and Dark Cloud both had excellent pitching years, winning 16 and 14 games, respectively. Injuries Lathum injured his elbow ligament and had to have reconstruction surgery at the beginning of the year and did not pitch at all. He will use his injury exemption this year. AlanT had a severe elbow nerve injury and surgery which cost him the last two months of the season, and will also be exempted. Stats
Elimination On the batter side, Isiddiqui will be eliminated. He played the least in major league ball this year, spending most of his season in AAA, and though he hit the ball well, he stuck out too many times. Sterlingice did not have a great season and was certainly on the bubble as well. For pitchers, AlanT and Dark Cloud had injury exemptions, leaving JeeberD, Quiksand, and MizzouRah as the possibilities. In the end I totalled their ranks among the 10 pitchers in wins, losses, strikeouts, and ERA, and the lowest score would go - it was very close between Quiksand and MizzouRah but in the end MizzouRah will be eliminated. |

2014 Season
The Washington Nationals defeated the Chicago White Sox 4-2 to win this year's World Series. Leaders Chief Rum won his second National League MVP title in a row this year, and led the NL with a .369 batting average. On the AL side, Ksyrup won the MVP award and led that league with a .362 average. JeeberD led all pitchers with 16 wins this season. Injuries Lathum was extremely limited this season because of last year's severe injury and only pitched in 8 games. Unfortunately, he has already used his injury exemption. Sabotai missed much of this season with a torn labrum but does not need to be exempted as he is not in last place (explained below.) Dark Cloud tore his flexor tendon and will be out for nearly a full year. None of the position players were substantially injured. Stats
Elimination On the pitcher side, Lathum will be eliminated - he only pitched in 8 games this season because of his injury (and his ratings have been substantially reduced as well.) On the batter side, Sterlingice and Eaglesfan27 were neck and neck even after adding their positions in average, hits, runs, and RBI. I used on base percentage as a tiebreaker and so Sterlingice will be eliminated (though Eaglesfan27 came VERY close.) Rule clarification - I decided that to be fair, a player will not have to use his injury exemption unless he would be the player eliminated that year. Last year for example Lathum and AlanT would have been on the bottom so they used their exemptions, but this year Lathum was on the bottom and unprotected so Sabotai doesn't have to burn his exemption for nothing. 2015 Season
The Washington Nationals trounced the Detroit Tigers, four games to none, in this year's World Series. Leaders Poli had an amazing season this year, winning the Triple Crown for the Brewers, and hitting .379 with 47 home runs and 128 RBIs. There was also the first pitcher leader, with Quiksand leading the AL in strikeouts with 242. Our pitchers really bloomed this year, with Ben E Lou, Quiksand, and Sabotai all notching 17 wins. Injuries Ksyrup tore a back muscle and missed four months of the season. Sir Fozzie had a strained hamstring and then complications, and ended up missing 9 weeks. Dark Cloud missed the entire season from last year's injury. DeToxRox had to have surgery for nerve decompression at the end of the year. Stats
Elimination For the position players, Ksyrup is at the bottom but is safe because of his league leader exemption from last year. Passacaglia will be eliminated this year, he struggled and hit only .282. For the pitchers, Dark Cloud will be eliminated. Due to his previous injury he missed the entire season. |

2016 Season
The Detroit Tigers won the World Series this year, beating a tough Austin Riders team. Leaders JonInMiddleGA had an amazing season this year, hitting .427! This led the NL but wasn't enough to take the MVP, which Chief Rum took home, hitting .394. Poli was right there too, leading the league in home runs with 45 and RBIs with 144. Talk about a tough MVP race! In the AL, Ksyrup had no trouble earning his second MVP award, leading that league in batting at .381. For the pitchers, JeeberD was smoking this year, winning 22 games to lead the AL and earning his first Cy Young Award. Quiksand also led the majors in strikeouts with 273. Ben E Lou won 17 games and had a tremendous all around year. Injuries Daddy Torgo suffered an elbow ligament tear late in the season and will have to have surgery - he pitched quite well up to that point though with a 3.32 ERA. AlanT missed several weeks as well but he still pitched in 29 games. Stats
Elimination On the pitcher side, AlanT will be eliminated - his early injuries really hurt his ratings and he struggled all year, going 3-14 with a 6.17 ERA. For the batters, Eaglesfan27 is gone - he had a decent year but had the lowest totals of our batters in every major category. |

I'll check on that when I get home and post my next update. Most likely a free agent signing, a lot of the players made big deals with various teams.

2017 Season
The Tampa Bay Rays won the World Series this year, beating the Phillies 4 games to 1. Leaders Our players again took home both MVP awards this season, with JonInMiddleGA taking it in the National League, hitting .406 with 23 homers and 89 RBIs, and Ksyrup winning the award again in the American, hitting .396 (league leading) with 33 home runes and 120 RBIs. For our pitchers, JeeberD led the pack, winning 19 games, but Quiksand was right behind him with 18 wins and a 2.63 ERA, and Quik led the AL in strikeouts as well. Injuries There were no major injuries this season, but DaddyTorgo was out most of the season with last year's injury. JonInMiddleGA only played 107 games due to a ribcage muscle pull, but since he won the MVP anyway, that hardly slowed him down. Chief Rum also lost 6 weeks of the season due to a hamstring injury. Stats
Elimination On the batter side this is a very tough decision, as most of the batters had great seasons. Ksyrup, Poli, and JonInMiddleGA had leaders exemptions from last season, and Chief Rum used his injury exemption, leaving Stevew and Sir Fozzie on the block. In the end, Sir Fozzie was eliminated. For the pitchers, JeeberD and Quiksand had leaders exemptions and Daddy Torgo used his injury exemption. Looking at the others, Sabotai had a decent, but not great year, and will be eliminated. |

With only 5 players left in each category, here's what they look like, ratings wise, right now. Their 2018 stats are also included, as I've run that season but haven't posted the results yet (will do so tonight.)

2018 Season
The Philadelphia Phillies swept the Seattle Mariners in this year's World Series. Leaders Chief Rum took home the National League MVP this year, leading the NL by hitting .389 with 104 runs scored and 86 RBI. Stevew grabbed the American League MVP title, hitting .394 (league leading) with 20 home runs and 82 RBIs. JonInMiddleGA had an excellent year as well, hitting .382 and knocking in 99 runs. Daddy Torgo led our pitchers with 18 wins this season (in a year where all our pitchers had at least 15 wins.) DeToxRox won 17 and finished the year with a 2.60 ERA. JeeberD led the majors with 256 strikeouts, just ahead of Quiksand. Ben E Lou led the NL with a brutal 2.39 ERA. Injuries Ksyrup lost 6 weeks of the season to plantar fascitis, and Poli had a variety of injuries, especially a fractured hand, that cost him a good bit of playing time. Stats
Elimination On the pitching side, this is a brutal year for anyone to be eliminated - all our pitchers won at least 15 games and none had injuries. Quiksand has a leaders exemption from last season. The decision was very close but in the end DaddyTorgo, despite leading the pitchers with 18 wins this season, was eliminated. On the batter side, Ksyrup and JonInMiddleGA had a leaders exemption from last year, and Stevew and Chief Rum led the league this year, and Poli used his injury exemption, leading to no elimination this season. |

JonInMiddleGA was our only free agent this season and he just signed a three year, $88 million deal with, appropriately, the Braves. This makes him the highest paid player in the majors.

2019 Season
The Mariners bounced back from their World Series loss last year to win it all this year, over the Milwaukee Brewers in 7 games. Leaders Ksyrup won the AL MVP award this year, hitting .358 with 23 homers and 90 RBIs, and scoring an impressive 144 runs. Chief Rum took home the MVP honors in the NL, hitting .371 with 23 home runs and 110 RBIs. Neither led their league in any category however, those honors fell to Stevew taking the AL batting title (.392) and JonInMiddleGA taking the NL batting title (.396.) Quiksand led the majors in strikeouts this season, as well. DeToxRox and Quiksand both had 17 wins to lead our remaining pitchers. Injuries JeeberD fractured a bone in his throwing shoulder, and as a result missed all but the first couple weeks of the season. He recovered in time to pitch in two games of the World Series though, which his team the Mariners won. Stats
Elimination On the pitcher side, only 4 are left. JeeberD had a leaders exemption from last season, as did Ben E Lou, and Quiksand had a leaders exemption during this season, leaving DeToxRox as the odd man out, and he is eliminated. (I really hate having to eliminate players like this when they had great years. If I do this again I will have to tweak the rules.) On the batter side, Stevew and Chief Rum already used last year's leaders exemptions, but Stevew and JonInMiddleGA had leaders exemptions from this season, which they use to break a tie, leading to Ksyrup being eliminated this season. |

2020 Season
This year the Austin Riders (formerly the Arizona Diamondbacks, they moved and renamed the team several years back) beat the Oakland A's to win the World Series. Leaders Stevew took home another MVP award this year for the American League, leading the league with a .373 average and hitting 21 home runs and 91 RBIs. Quiksand once again led the majors in strikeouts with 267, and Ben E Lou had an incredible season, winning 23 games, though he was somehow beaten for the Cy Young AWard by Zack Greinke who had 24 wins for Austin. Injuries Chief Run suffered a broken kneecap which limited him to playing in only 60 games this season. Poli had a repeatedly sprained ankle that limited his playing time as well. Stats
Elimination On the pitcher side, Ben E Lou and Quiksand had good seasons but JeeberD struggled, his ERA and wins at career lows. He will be eliminated. For the batters, Chief Rum had used his injury exemption in 2017, so he will be eliminated. |

2021 Season
The Cincinnati Reds defeated the Texas Rangers in the World Series, 4 games to 0. We also had two players go to new teams in the offseason - Poli signed a three year, $62 million deal with the Angels, and Stevew went to the Red Sox with a three year, $75 million deal. Leaders JonInMiddleGA took home another MVP award for the National League this season, hitting a scorching .415 (league leading) with 22 homers and 81 RBIs. Poli took home the AL MVP award with a great year, hitting .333 with 39 home runs and 121 RBIS (leading the AL.) Quiksand led the league in strikeouts yet again, and also led it in ERA, with a near unhittable 2.14. This was good enough to land him his first ever Cy Young Award. Injuries There were no substantial injuries this year. Stats
Elimination On the batter side, Stevew used his leaders exemption from last season, and Poli and JonInMiddleGA used their leaders exemptions from this season. No elimination. On the pitcher side it is over - with Quiksand leading in two categories this year, Ben E Lou couldn't measure up, even though he pitched well. Quiksand is the pitching winner! Quiksand has had a great career so far - with good velocity and a wicked slider and changeup, he has befuddled batters throughout his career, leading the AL in strikeouts 6 of the last 7 seasons. One factor that helped him win this contest is his durability - he never suffered a serious injury and has led the American League 4 times in innings pitched. He has also led his league four times in complete games. At 30 years old, he is showing no signs of slowing down. |

2022 Season
The Milwaukee Brewers came out on top in the World Series this year, beating the Red Sox 4-1. JonInMiddleGA signed with the Cincinnati Reds, with a three year, $60 million contract. Leaders JonInMiddleGA took home his third National League MVP award this year, hitting over .400 for the second straight year (.405, league leading.) He also walloped 33 home runs and knocked in 115 RBIs. How good a hitter is he? His career batting average is .375 (best ever) and his career OBP is .4729. (Chief Rum is #1 in career OBP and second in career batting average, btw.) Stevew also took home his third MVP, leading the AL in hitting with .346 and bashing 26 home runs and 95 RBIs. Quiksand led the majors in strikeouts, again. Injuries No significant injuries this year. Stats
Elimination SteveW used his leaders exemption from this year, and Poli is unfortunately eliminated. |

Shocking! Before the 2023 season even started, the contest is over! Stevew suffered a devastating injury on the basepaths, a fractured hip, and the doctors say his career is over! JonInMiddleGA is the batting winner!
This catcher is maybe the best pure hitter I've ever seen in many, many seasons of OOTP. He has hit over .400 three times, a feat only Ty Cobb and Rogers Hornsby can match, and in fact he had another season where he hit .407 but due to an injury he only played 107 games so it didn't count in the records. He won the Rookie of the Year award in 2013, three MVPs (2017, 2021, 2022) and he could win a couple more before he's done. |

Really bad break for Stevew - he had as good a career as Jon, also won three MVPs, and I think he would have made it a race to the finish to see which one is the better player. He played in quite a few more games and had more plate appearances, and led Jon career wise in hits, RBI, Runs, and walks. Jon led in career batting average, on base percentage, slugging, and home runs.
