WUSA Folds!!

How sad. I was proud that the US had one of the best women's soccer league in the world. It was the English Premier League of women's soccer. Sigh.

This league also had two things going for it: Brandi Chastain's boobs.

The WUSA folds. Ben and JLo break up.

Are either of these really shocking?

When women's sports are packaged like men's sports, then they will succeed.

It's hard to get excited for something on the PAX network.

I mean, how can I be expected to watch a WUSA game when I keep hearing, "Coming up next on PAX.. Murphy Brown!"

the WUSA should be on lifetime, so if the male ref misses a call they can show a mini film about it at halftime.

Oh, damn... must start new game from scratch.

I knew I shouldn't have spent so much time on a game where the attribute "cup size" doesn't refer to the championship trophy.

They should have packaged with a little T&A ala the Aussies. Seems like every Aussie women's sport does a spread come Olympic time. I'm all for anything that encourages women to explore nudity in a public forum.

As someone pointed out today. This was the first sports league in world history to have been created based on a woman taking off her shirt.

Without Chastain's Sports Bra (and the resulting news clips and coverage) America forgets about the Women's World Cup win in a few days and the league never starts.

So is anyone up for the "When does the WNBA follow?" pool?

It really kills me how the people involved in these women's pro leagues act like the fates are somehow conspiring against them and that all they need is a fair chance to make their product work. Unless they start playing nekked I just don't see the market out there to support them. The only two professional women's sports doing OK are tennis (and don't think T&A isn't just some small part of that) and golf (with the world's largest organized lesbian following of any pro sport).

Nice Churchill attempt, I always love it when the Great One is quoted. or even sort of quoted. Good job!

I quote Churchill whenever someone asks me why I'm wearing a ballcap...

I think this league folding is getting more attention both from the press, and this board, than it did in its entire history.

Thanks, I always try to use what knowledge of history I have for good instead of evil. Sadly, it isn't always possible to do.

"...now you see that evil will always triumph, because good is dumb."

Not exactly Churchill, but of equal distinction, I think we can all agree.
