Colgate (3-7) at Siena (5-7) We come off a long layoff and respond with a nice road win, 81-76. Wilson Le led the team with 20 points on the day. Moore scored 14 and had 7 assists from the PG spot. Pierre Jones fell just short of a double, double, with 10 points and 9 boards. I think he has a pretty good shot for Ivy League Freshman honors.
January 18, 2013 We had another long layoff, 8 days, and now open the league schedule on the road. We don’t get the start we were looking for as we lose 75-68. Moore was the only starter not scoring in double figures. Melton led the team with 16. Offense does not seem to be a problem for us, for the most part, this season. We are struggling to stop teams from scoring though. Maybe a change in formations is in order.
January 19, 2013 Northeastern (10-2) at Colgate (4-8) We come away with a huge win against one of the top teams in the conference. This should give us a great confidence boost. The final score was 72-61. Melton went off for 25 points today. Jones added 13 along with 8 rebounds. Le had 10 points and Batiste grabbed 10 boards in 19 minutes of play off the bench.
Mid-Month Review
It is very early, but we were able to knock off Northeastern, which is a great sign. Top 25

Colgate (5-8) at Tennessee State (1-19) First, how have these guys fit 19 games into the season already? Second, how the hell do we lose to them? 67-66 was the final. Le led us with 14 points while, Melton and Moore each had a dozen.
January 25, 2013 Vermont (7-7) at Colgate (5-9) We suffer a home court loss here, 78-67. Melton set a school record for points in a game with 36! He also grabbed 11 rebounds. Moore added 10, but it just wasn’t enough.
January 30, 2013 Colgate (5-10) at Florida A&M (9-9) I think we may have set a team high scoring record as we pound on A&M on their home court, 94-74. Melton follows up his 35 point game with a 30 points game. Unbelievable! Needham had 10 points and 11 boards. Moore scored 18 and Le had 15.
January Recap
We are showing some offensive firepower lately. If we can get the defense working, we can still make a run in conference. Top 25

Wagner (5-12) at Colgate (6-10) Well, I have tried to be as optimistic as possible, but after getting killed 79-47 at home to Wagner, I am giving up on the season. Melton comes to play every day, as he had 18, but the rest of the team should have just stayed home.
February 8, 2013 Rhode Island (9-8) at Colgate (6-11) Go figure, we come back and lay a beating down of our own this week, 79-58. Melton led the team with 25 points. Oh, how I wish we had 1 more year with him. Needham had a dozen points and the same number of boards for us. We get two more years of him.
Pierre Jones will miss the rest of the month due to injury. We have been getting hammered with injuries this season. February 9, 2013 Colgate (7-11) at Brown (5-12) Another defensive let down as Brown wins 85-73. Melton moves down to the PF spot due to the injury, and still is unstoppable as he puts us 33. Needham moves to center and pulls down 15 boards but failed to score. Moore had 13 points and 8 boards.
February 15, 2013 Yale (8-11) at Colgate (7-12) We seem to get blown out one day, then come back and blow out our opponent in the next game. We win this one at home, 81-52. Melton putting up superb numbers every game now, as he had another 30+ point game. He should be getting national attention by now.
February 16, 2013 Brown (6-13) at Colgate (8-12) Would you believe we gave up 109 points to Brown??????? The final was 109-87. Melton had 20 and Moore had 24 for us. No defense what so ever though.
Mid-Month Recap
Our revised goal is to just finish 7-7 in conference play. Top 25

Colgate (8-13) at Campbell (13-8) Another blowout and we are on the wrong end. 91-73. The Melton watch has him with 21 this week. -
February , 2013 Colgate (8-14) at Wagner (9-13) We cannot stop anyone from scoring and we lose this one 94-71. Is the season over yet?
February Recap How does that saying go? At the end of every dark cloud is a silver lining? Well, great news on the Colgate campus today. C Moses Litton, from Accord, NY has committed to Colgate. Moses is out first ever 5 star recruit! He is going to be a monster for us, and I am already very excited about next season (Do I say that every year?)
Ivy League
We will have to go 4-0 to finish the season at 7-7. I hope I am around for next season. Top 25

Colgate (8-15) at Northeastern (15-8) Another game, another loss. This time we keep it relatively close, 81-70.
March 2, 2013 Campbell (16-8) at Colgate (8-16) I have no idea how we would win this game, but we pulled it out, 72-69. We are just playing for pride now. My man Melton went for 29 today.
March 4, 2013 Albany (11-15) at Colgate (9-16) March 4 and we finally get our 10th win of the season. It seems so long ago that we beat St. Louis to open the season. This one ends 62-53.
March 9, 2013 Colgate (10-16) at Rhode Island (10-16) We drop this one by 11, 74-63.
March 15, 2013 Colgate (10-17) at Yale (10-17) At least we finish the season off with a win. I just have to hope I am around for next season after an 11-17 showing.
Final Standings
The only good thing is we managed to avoid last place in the Ivy. Top 25

2013-2014 Colgate Roster
CENTERS 13 Ted Deas C Sr 6'10" 253 Morehead City, NC Ted is a walk on in his final year with us. I don’t expect him to be any more than a practive squad player. 35 Vaughn Batiste C Jr 6'11" 290 Puyallup, WA Vaughn had a few nice games for us last year, and continues to improve. As a junior, we wish he was a little farther along, but he will still get a bit of playing time. 21 Chuck Jones C Jr 6' 9" 222 Milwaukie, OR Chuck is a rebounding specialist, which is not going to earn him a ton of playing time for us. Pierre Jones C So 6' 8" 223 Bronx, NY Pierre remains our starting center. His defense is slowly improving, and we may have to call for some double teams down on the block. He is certainly a more than capable scorer and rebounded though. 53 Charles Barr C So 6' 8" 228 Homer, NY Charles is a great defender, something we really need down low. His offensive game is starting to come around as well, so we will try to get him on the court more often this year. 14 Moses Litton C Fr 6' 8" 205 Accord, NY Moses is our highly touted Freshman. He can really do it all, but needs another year or so to really round out his skills and become a star. He is our 6th man and will get a ton of playing time, and may even prove he deserves a starting spot. POWER FORWARDS Chris Needham PF Jr 6'10" 269 Scotts Valley, CA Chirs is a shut down defender, has some great moves on offense and can really clean the boards. We are looking for a really strong year from Chris this season. He will start at Power Forward. 1 Jamey Kaufmann PF So 6'11" 238 Garnett, KS This walk on will not play much at all. SMALL FORWARDS Ed Silverman SF Sr 6' 8" 217 Forestville, MD Ed can really drain the 3 pointer. He can also clean the class with the best of them. He struggles on defense which was a big concern last year. However, he is probably our best option to start at SF despite the weaknesses. This might be the position that our freshman, Moses inherits mid season if Silverman does not perform, especially on defense. 31 Jeromy Goetz SF Jr 6' 9" 254 La Vernia, TX Another walk on who we don’t want to see on the floor. SHOOTING GUARD 12 Devon Price SG Jr 6' 6" 213 Eielson Afb, AK Devon is like a jack of all trades, and will see some decent playing time off the bench as the 7th or 8th man in the rotation. POINT GUARDS Johnnie Moore PG Jr 6' 3" 200 Farrell, PA Johnnie has a very nice jump shot, a great handle on the ball and knows how to distribute it. He is another guy where we are concerned about defense though. I think we are looking at a zone this year. He will start at PG regardless. 2 Dalton Lee PG Jr 5'11" 176 Satsuma, AL Yet another walk on who will not be much help at all. Thomas Delrosario PG So 6' 0" 176 East Greenbush, NY A natural point guard, but we will start him at the SG guard spot because of his excellent shooting skills in addition to point guard skills. He is one of our better defenders. 54 James Raby PG Fr 6' 2" 194 Ilion, NY James has a nice shot and some good PG skills. He will see his share of time off the bench as a true freshman.

November 21, 2013
Gardner Webb (0-1) at Colgate (0-0) I am so full of enthusiasm and optimism on opening day. Of course, a 1 point loss, 60-59, at home kills all that good felling off awfully fast. Moore led the team with 19 points from the PG spot, along with 6 asssits. Pierre Jones also scored in double figures with 11.
November 26, 2013 Long Island (1-1) at Colgate (0-1) This is the first of a few OOC games against in state rivals. We take game one of our New York State schedule with a 76-73 win. Jones had a double, double to earn POTG honors with 13 point and 15 rebounds. Moore led the team with 18 points and Tom D. scored 10. It is early, but I am still pondering a switch between Tom D. and Moore at PG and SG.
November 29, 2013 Colgate (1-1) at Siena (0-3) We hand Siena their first win of the season, 71-69, and I hit the panic button and decide to make some changes already. Jones led the team with 19 points while Tom D. had a double double with 13 points and 10 boards. We are getting some nice individual performances, but not a full team effort.
November Recap SG Freeman Murphy, from Brooklyn, NY has committed to Colgate. Freeman is a 4 star recruit! He is also a good defender! He has a great jumper already and will improve vastly over his career with us. A great landing for us.
Ivy Standings
I move our freshman phenom, Moses Litton to the starting SF spot. He is naturally a center, but Silverman is disappointing early on and will be better served off the bench. The AI suggests we go man to man, so I give it a shot. Top 25

December 2, 2013
Grambling (1-2) at Colgate (1-2) Another aggravating loss, 65-56. Jones and Needham both pulled in double figures in rebounds. Moore led the team with 14 points and the only other double digit scorer was Devon Price, off the bench.
I decide to switch Tom D. and Moore at PG and SG. December 7, 2013 Binghamton (2-4) at Colgate (1-3) We continue our New york State tour with another win against an instate rival. This final was 76-72. Jones and Needham both had double, doubles. Jones had 14 and 13 while Needham had 14 and 10. Moore also scored 14 at his new SG spot. Silverman was effective off the bench with 13 points.
Devon Price was injured in this game and will miss about 6 weeks. He was a small piece of the puzzle, so this should not hurt too much. December 13, 2013 Buffalo (2-3) at Colgate (2-3) We win three out of three against New York teams with a huge 73-48 blowout. Tom D. and Moore are adapting to their new roles nicely. Tom had 18 points and Moore had 17. Jones added 14 for us.
Mid Month Recap
We have rebounded nicely after a slow start to the season. I am not sure what the future holds here though. Top 25

Colgate (3-3) at Lamar (1-4) A road win is nice, but a blow out is even nicer. We take this one 72-49. Jones led the team with 19 points today. Tom D. added 14 and Moore and Needham both had 11. Moses is struggling here early in the season, but we are going to stick with him a while longer before trying out Silverman at SF again.
December 24, 2013 Harvard (3-5) at Colgate (4-3) A 48-40 loss is the kind of game that just burns me up. I cannot understand it.
December 29, 2013 Colgate (4-4) at Yale (6-3) I am embarrassed to even report this score. We lose 106-45.
December Recap
It might be time to bench Moses and bring Silverman back in. Top 25

Howard (4-4) at Colgate (4-5) OK, Silverman is inserted back into the starting SF spot. Tom D. is back to SG and Moore is back to PG. Lets see how that works out now. A 2 point win is not convincing, but it gets us back to 500 on the year. The final was 68-66. Silverman responds with a 23 point effort to lead the team. Moore had 14 points, 6 assists and 7 boards for us.
January 13, 2014 Air Force (3-10) at Colgate (5-5) We start to put together a little winning streak with a 84-73 win today. Moore led the team with 21 points today and Tom D. added 20 of his own. Needham and Jones also scored in double figures down in the paint.
January 17, 2014 Campbell (5-8) at Colgate (6-5) We start out our conference schedule on the right foot for once with a nice 95-82 victory. Pierre Jones led all scorers with 24 points for us. Needham, Silverman and Tom D. were our other starters with double figure scoring. Also, give mention to freshman James Raby who came off the bench to score 17 points in just 19 minutes of play.
January 18, 2014 Colgate (7-5) at Rhode Island (7-7) We put on a defensive clinic on the road to go 2-0 in conference play. We take this one 71-39. Things seem to be coming around. Tom D. led all scorers with 25 points. Jones had another double, double with 10 points and 11 boards.
Mid Month Recap
It might have been back in our Patriot League days when I last led my conference. Top 25

Colgate (8-5) at New Hampshire (5-11) Another road conference win. Racking these up early on is pretty important. We take this one 68-61. Four of our starters scored in double figures and Moore added in 7 with 5 assists, but he fouled out of the game and only played 16 minutes.
January 24, 2014 Colgate (9-5) at Wagner (6-7) We suffer our first conference loss, 56-44. As long as we can rebound from this we will be OK I think. Moore is the only guy who came looking to score, as he had 12 to lead the team.
January 27, 2014 Colgate (9-6) at St. Louis (4-12) We have to travel to the Midwest to complete this home and home series. We take both legs of it with a 78-65 win today. Needham is the only starter who did not score in double figures. Tom D. led us with 19 and Silverman had 18, while Jones had 17.
January Recap Ivy Standings
So far, so good, but there is a long way to go in the season. Top 25

Cornell (8-11) at Colgate (10-6) These kind of losses take years off of my lifespan. We drop this one 88-59. We were not even competitive on our home court and we also fall to 2-2 in league play.
February 8, 2014 Colgate (10-7) at Holy Cross (9-10) We get nosed out in the end of this game, on the road, 82-78. Silverman led us with 19 points today.
February 14, 2014 Holy Cross (10-11) at Colgate (10-8) We are able to defend our home court with a 67-62 victory. Moore had a career game, scoring 28 points and 5 assists. Tom D. also added in 19 in the winning effort. Needham was just 1 point short of a double, double. He had 9 points and 13 boards.
February 15, 2014 Colgate (11-8) at Northeastern (10-9) We pick up a terrific win on the road today, 79-65. Needham gets the double, double today with a team high 20 points and a team high 11 boards. Moore added 19 and Jones had 16.
Mid Month Recap
We are just a half a game out of first place in league play. We need to keep playing hard and hope for a couple nice breaks. Top 25

Colgate (12-8) at Brown (5-15) Another one of those killer losses. 79-68 was the final. Brown is a terrible team, but we should be able to take them, even on the road. Silverman and Jones each scored 19 in the losing cause, which was a team high.
February 21, 2014 Colgate (12-9) at Vermont (14-7) We get blown out on the road here, 83-65. Is it me, or does every game we play in league seem like it is on the road?
February 22, 2014 Rhode Island (10-12) at Colgate (12-10) We take this one 89-73 to keep our sliver of hope alive. Moore had 25 points and 9 assists to take POTG honors. Silverman added 19 poitns and 11 boards. Jones had 10 points and 14 boards. A great effort by my guys today.
February 28, 2014 Colgate (13-10) at Campbell (9-15) This was a nice win, 72-61. I will take any win on the road, but to win by 11 is real nice. Tom D. led the team with 21 points. Jones had yet another double, double with 16 points and 11 boards.
February Recap Ivy League
We are only 1 game out in the loss column, but 2 in the win column. We have Northeastern, Wagner, Vermont and Brown left on the schedule, all at home. Top 25

Northeastern (12-12) at Colgate (14-10) We take the first step towards claiming a conference title in March with a 73-64 victory. Jones led the way with 19 points for us. Tom D. and Moore both scored in double figures for us as well.
March 7, 2014 Wagner (14-11) at Colgate (15-10) We defend our home court and are now right in the thick of things. We take this one 78-65. Needham needed just 1 point to put all of our starters in double figures. Jones had 10 and 10 while Tom D. led us with 17.
Ivy League
We have a three way tie for first place now. We have a game with Vermont coming up too. March 8, 2014 Vermont (16-10) at Colgate (16-10) One of us will be eliminated from contention today. On our home court we feel pretty good, but the game gets out of hand late in the second and we ended up falling by 10, 86-76. Needham had 19 to lead us today. Jones was injured in the first couple of minutes and missed the game. That might have been the difference. Jones will be out for our season finale as well.
March 14, 2014 Brown (11-16) at Colgate (16-11) We finish up the regular season with another win, 77-73. We finish just 1 game out of first. So close, yet so far.
Even with the 2nd place league finish, we do not get an NOT invite. Vermont takes the conference title.

Off-Season Procedures
Our recruiting class was ranked #66 in the country. Cincinnati had the #1 ranked class in the nation. Our prestige level moved up a couple of points to 36. I listen to 3 head coaching job offers, from Loyola Marymount, Alabama State, and Radford, but I decline all three offer. Our scouting director, Stephen Gayton left for a position on the Chattanooga coaching staff. We replace Stephen with 47 year old Kevin Mercurio. He is rated a 43 in scouting. We have 9 OOC games to schedule this season, 7 of which can be at home. In May we schedule: Liberty, Sacred Heart, Albany, Cornell, and Central Connecticut In June we round out our schedule with: William & Mary, Nichols State, Cleveland St., and Cal State Fullerton Recruiting begins in June, and we have 5 scholarships to give out this year. As November rolls around we get an early commitment. PG John Craven, from Rochester, NY, has committed to Colgate. John is a 4 star recruit. He has a great skill set for a point guard and look forward to another 4 star recruit coming to campus.

2014-2015 Colgate Red Raiders Roster
CENTERS 35 Vaughn Batiste C Sr 6'11" 291 Puyallup, WA Vaughn has turned into a fine player here in his Senior season. He is not quite good enough to break into our starting lineup, but I guarantee you will see plenty of productive games for Vaughn off the bench. 21 Chuck Jones C Sr 6' 9" 225 Milwaukie, OR Chuck is a walk on player. He has great rebounding skills, but has never and will never contribute. 3 Pierre Jones C Jr 6' 8" 224 Bronx, NY Pierre has been our starter for 2 years, but gets demoted to 6th man this year. He is one heck of a 6th man considering he averaged 12 points and 8 boards a game last year. 53 Charles Barr C Jr 6' 8" 230 Homer, NY This junior player plays great defense, but still has not rounded out enough to even compete for a starting job. He is good enough that he will see a few minutes here and there, but nothing on a very consistant basis. 14 Moses Litton C So 6' 8" 205 Accord, NY Moses moves into our starting Center spot in his second year, replacing Pierre Jones. Not only will he challenge other team’s big men to score, he will also be able to contribute significantly to the offense. POWER FORWARDS 11 Chris Needham PF Sr 7' 0" 275 Scotts Valley, CA Chris is in his senior year and will remain our starter at PF. Is am absolute lockdown defender. He does a fine job on the boards and will be able to contribute on offense. 1 Jamey Kaufmann PF Jr 6'11" 254 Garnett, KS Jmaey is a walk on who will not help us out this year. 24 Damon Herrera PF Fr 6' 6" 211 Fulton, MO Freshman walkon. Not a chance. SMALL FORWARDS 31 Jeromy Goetz SF Sr 6' 9" 255 La Vernia, TX Another walkon with no skills. SHOOTING GUARDS 12 Devon Price SG Sr 6' 6" 217 Eielson Afb, AK Devon will get the start at SF, but only by default. He is a pretty average player, but it seem he is the best we have right now. 40 Freeman Murphy SG Fr 6' 3" 199 Brooklyn, NY Freeman has some skills as a freshman, but will need a year or two to really develop into a well rounded player. I will still get him on the court when possible. POINT GUARDS 50 Johnnie Moore PG Sr 6' 4" 208 Farrell, PA Johnnie Moore is our starting Point Guard for his senior season. His only real weakness is playing defense, so we will have to call some double teams on the outside. Our interior defense looks very, very good, so I think we can afford this. 2 Dalton Lee PG Sr 5'11" 177 Satsuma, AL This Senior walkon is not a bad ball player, but just not good enough to break into an 8 man rotation that we like to use. 55 Thomas Delrosario PG Jr 6' 0" 178 East Greenbush, NY Tom D. is a very nice player. Great offensive capability and a very good defender. He starts at SG for us. 54 James Raby PG So 6' 2" 194 Ilion, NY Raby’s development is coming along and will get some time off the bench for us.

November 16, 2014
Cal State Fullerton (0-0) at Colgate (0-0) We stumble out of the blocks as we drop this game to one of the historically worst teams in the country, 75-68. Tom D. led the offense with 17 points today. Both Moses Litton and Needham had double, doubles. Moses had 15 and 11 while Needham had 13 and 10.
November 20, 2014 Liberty (0-2) at Colgate (0-1) Settle in for along season as we lose our first two games, both at home, and both to historically horrible teams. Moses led the team with 19 points. Needham had 10 boards. Johnnie Moore added a dozen. I think my best move would be to try and get Devon Price out of the lineup and Pierre Jones into it, even if some guys have to play out of position.
November 25, 2014 Sacred Heart (2-0) at Colgate (0-2) We put Pierre Jones into the starting SF spot. He is grossly out of position, but we go three big now and can’t fair any worse than with Devon starting. He moves down to 2nd man off the bench. The moves do not pay off and we drop 3 straight, this one, 74-67. Needham was our only starter not scoring in double figures. Moore led the team with 17. Moses had 10 and 10.
November Recap SG Michael Brown, from Buffalo, NY has committed to Colgate. Mike is a 3 star prospect. He is already a very good shooter and his potential there is just through the roof. I think this guy could be a diamond in the rough, especially if I could stick a red shirt on him his first year.
Ivy Standings
A horrible start to the season, after finishing second in the conference last year. There is a lot of ball left to be played though. Top 25

Albany (1-1) at Colgate (0-3) We are finally able to notch a win, 75-61. Needham recorded a double double with a team high 19 points and a team high 11 boards. Moore scored 17 and handed out 5 assists. Freeman Murphy chipped in 10 points off the bench.
December 9, 2014 Cornell (2-4) at Colgate (1-3) We seem to be back on track after beating our 2nd consecutive in state opponent. Today we win 59-51. Needham had a team high 10 boards while Moore led the way with 21 points on offense. Tom D. added 12 points for us.
December 15, 2014 Colgate (2-3) at Central Connecticut (2-3) Our first road game of the season is a success as we win 74-62 and work our way back to .500 on the season. Moore has another great offensive game, scoring 27 and handing out 7 assists. Jones scores 14 from the SF spot.
Mid Month Recap
After losing 3, we have now won three and appear headed in the right direction now. Top 25

William & Mary (0-8) at Colgate (3-3) We don’t have much problems with this team and win 67-54. Moses led the team with 17 points, but Tom D. and Moore both scored 16 points. Needham grabbed 14 rebounds for us.
Pierre Jones suffered an injury today and will miss about a month of action. We will Vaughn Batsite a shot at the starting SF spot. December 22, 2014 Colgate (4-3) at Nichols State (6-4) We hit the road and come away with a pretty impressive win against Nichols. Any road win is a good one, and we take this, 77-64. Moore again led the team in scoring with 23 points. He also had 7 assists. Tom D., Needham and Moses Litton all scored in double figures as well.
December 28, 2014 Colgate (5-3) at Long Island (4-7) We are having great success against teams from New York, as we win on the road, 71-63. Moses led the team in scoring with 21 points. Needham scored 7, but did pull in a dozen rebounds. Moore chipped in with 12 points.
December 31, 2014 Colgate (6-3) at Cleveland State (2-8) We finally drop a game after winning 6 in a row. This time we lose 61-50 in a pretty uninspiring performance. Tom D. was our only player to score in double figures, and he only had 10.
December Recap Terrible news comes in on New Year’s day, as Tom D. and James Raby were both placed on academic suspension. They will be on the bench for at least 1 month. We give freshman, Freeman Murphy the starting SG job. Ivy League
We rebounded after our slow start to win 6 of 7 games since. The academic suspension of Tom D. is going to hurt us bad. We will need a freshman to step in and step up his game early in his career. Top 25

January 6, 2015
Yale (8-3) at Colgate (6-4) Yale is a quality program and they take care of us on our own court, 74-55. Moses had a double, double with 18 points and 10 boards. Freeman Murphy put up 11 points and 7 boards in his first start, a nice sign.
January 12, 2015 Colgate (6-5) at Buffalo (2-9) I hate losing to real bad teams, even if we are on the road, and that is exactly what we did today, 67-60. Moses again led the team, he had 17 points today. Freeman put up another 14 in his second start. He is a nice surprise right now.
January 17, 2015 Colgate (6-6) at Northeastern (9-3) We have to open our conference schedule, on the road against a team that was ranked for a week this season. Pretty tough situation. The doctors say that Pierre Jones is 93% healthy, so we put him back into the starting lineup. We play them tough on the road, but suffer a 72-65 defeat. Moore led the way with 23 points. Moses had 12 and Freeman scored 10. Freeman has scored in double figures in each of his starts. When Tom D. comes back, I may give Freeman the start at SF and move Pierre back to the 6th man spot. Pierre is a fine player, but cannot surpass Moses at Center this year.
Mid Month Recap
We have struggled without Tom D. in our lineup, but we have found that Freeman can contribute. Top 25

Colgate (6-7) at Binghamton (6-9) We drop this one to an instate rival, 75-69. Moses had a double, double with 14 points and 11 boards. Jones and Devon Price also scored in double figures for us.
January 23, 2015 Colgate (6-8) at Brown (12-3) We get a great road win against a high quality opponent (for us). We take this one 76-59. Needham led the team in scoring today with a 21 point performance. Litton fell a point short of another double, double. He had 9 and 11. Moore and Murphy also scored in double figures. Murphy just needed 1 more rebound for a double double.
January 28, 2015 Lamar (5-12) at Colgate (7-8) We drop this game at home. Really no excuse for this one, we lose 74-59 to a pretty bad team. Moore and Litton both scored 12 to lead the team, but nobody else could score for us. Needham did have 14 rebounds.
January 30, 2015 Holy Cross (5-11) at Colgate (7-9) We lose this one to a last second heave by Holy Cross. Devastating. Final score was 63-61. Moore scored 20 and Freeman Murphy had 12. Needham continues to clean the boards, he had 13.
January Recap First off, both Tom D. and James Raby are back from academic suspension. SF Julius Fielding, from Wellsville, OH has committed to Colgate. Julius is a 3 star recruit. His defense is a concern, but at this point, we are starting to get desperate to fill our 5 scholarships.

February 6, 2014
Colgate (7-10) at Wagner (11-6) We drop this one on the road by 10 points, 78-68. Needham had a huge day with 14 points and 18 rebounds, that was one board short of tying a school record. Tom D. and Moore also scored 14 points each.
February 7, 2015 Colgate (7-11) at Campbell (10-8) Campbell is in the basement in the Ivy standings and we make sure to keep them there with a 80-69 road win. All 5 of our starters scored in double figures, led by Freeman Murphy with 19. Moore had a double double with 14 points and 13 assists, and Moses also had one with 13 points and 11 boards.
February 13, 2015 Columbia (6-14) at Colgate (8-11) We don’t have much problem winning this game by a final score of 74-62. We outclassed them all day long. Moses scored 17 and pulled in 10 boards. Rom D. was the only starter with less than 10 points, so we have been spreading the ball around on offense lately.
February 14, 2015 Campbell (11-9) at Colgate (9-11) We manage to pull this game out by a mere 2 points, 64-62. The win puts us just 1 game away from a 500 record on the season. Moses continues to impress. He scored 14 to lead the team and had 11 rebounds. Freeman Murphy also scored 11 today.
Mid Month Recap
We have rebounded from another poor start to get to within 1 game in the loss column here. We are going to have to play flawlessly from here on out though. Top 25

February 20, 2015
Colgate (10-11) at Columbia (6-17) Frustrating. We cannot even beat the worst team in the Ivy League. Needham led the team with 21 points and 11 rebounds today. Murphy and Batiste also scored in double figures today.
February 21, 2015 Vermont (9-13) at Colgate (10-12) We drop two in a row now, and have taken ourselves out of any post season possibilities. Moore led the team with 18 points and Needham had a team high 11 rebounds.
February 27, 2015 Northeastern (18-5) at Colgate (10-13) Our defense clamps down on the best team in the league and we celebrate the biggest win of the year for us. Final score was 67-49. Moore led the team with 18 points and Tom D. and Murphy scored in double figures as well. Pierre Jones came off the bench to clean up on the boards, with 14. Needham had 13 boards as well.
February 28, 2015 Colgate (11-13) at Holy Cross (9-15) We win two in a row, now that it is probably too late to make a move. The final here is 80-76. We had 5 players score in double figures and 2 of them came off the bench to contribute. Tom D. scored a team high 15 points. Moore had 12 points and 12 assists.
February Recap
We are right in the middle of the pack here. One more win will guarantee we do not finish league play with a losing record. If we win all three and get some help, a lot of help, we can finish first. I am not sure of the tiebreaker situation right now. Top 25

Wagner (15-10) at Colgate (12-13) We are coming on strong late in the season, but it is probably just a bit too late in the season. We win this one at home, 93-80. Tom D. led all scorers with 25 points. Murphy added 19 and tywo other players scored in double figures, including James Raby, with 10 off then bench in 15 minutes of play.
March 7, 2015 Colgate (13-13) at Vermont (11-15) We drop this one 74-67 to fall back below 500 on the season. We are 7-6 in league play now, and would really like to win the finale to finish 8-6, as opposed to 7-7.
March 13, 2015 Brown (18-9) at Colgate (13-14) We stumble to finish the season, and lose 87-72. We finish our conference schedule with a 7-7 record. Good enough to keep the AD quiet, but not nearly what I hope for out of this team.

Off Season Procedures
Our recruiting class was ranked #18 in the nation! Cincinnati had the #1 ranked class in the land. Our prestige dropped down to 34. We receive no head coaching job offer. Our coaching staff sticks around for another year, so we do not have to replace anybody. We have 10 OOC games to schedule, with 7 of them being home games. In May, we schedule: Mount St. Mary’s, Long Island, Liberty, Cal State Fullerton, Lamar, Coastal Carolina, and Morris Brown. In June, we schedule: Southeast Louisiana and Gardner Webb Recruiting begins in June and we have 4 scholarships to fill. In September, we round out our schedule with Montana State As November rolls around, we get an early commitment. SG Joseph McGee, from Floral Park, NY commits to Colgate. Joe is a 4 star prospect. He has more potential than current skills, but could end up being a tremendous player for us.

They may be ranked high, but they are not helping much. I think I am getting the overrrated 3 star prospects. Since the beginning my prestige is only up 7 points and I still have never been to the NCAA tournament.

2015-2016 Colgate Roster
CENTERS 3 Pierre Jones C Sr 6' 9" 227 Bronx, NY Pierre gets inserted back into the starting lineup for his senior year at Power Forward. This guy is an excellent scorer as he has shown in his first three years. His defense is improved, as his his rebounding skills. He will be a monster on the glass for us. 53 Charles Barr C Sr 6' 8" 233 Homer, NY Charles is also a senior who will see plenty of playing time. His strength is defense, which is needed on this team. He will be one of the first few to come off the bench. 14 Moses Litton C Jr 6' 8" 206 Accord, NY Moses remains our starting Center. He really has a complete game and should be Ivy League First team this year. POWER FORWARDS 1 Jamey Kaufmann PF Sr 6'11" 265 Garnett, KS This walk on will not see any PT. 24 Damon Herrera PF So 6' 6" 211 Fulton, MO Same as Kaufmann. 12 Richard Sanchez PF Fr 6' 8" 243 Monticello, UT See above. We will need to make a PF a main target in recruiting. SMALL FORWARDS 43 Donny Bray SF Jr 6' 9" 239 Dracut, MA Yet another walkon who will not see much playing time. He has a few upsides, so if we have depth problems due to fouls or injury, he may get on the court. 21 Wendell Wampler SF Jr 6' 6" 224 Green River, WY This junior walk on has developed enough to make him useful. In fact, we are so weak at the SF spot, we are forced to start him. Our one real weak area this season. 0 Julius Fielding SF Fr 6' 7" 227 Wellsville, OH Julius will need a lot of grooming to become a productive player, but the potential is there. SHOOTING GUARDS 40 Freeman Murphy SG So 6' 3" 206 Brooklyn, NY Freemkan used his experience from last year to make great strides and claim the starting SG position as his. We look for some high scoring nights from him this season. 51 Michael Brown SG Fr 6' 3" 190 Buffalo, NY Michael is a tremendous offensive player, but struggles bad on defense. We will give him short spurts of PT, but he may get burned so bad on D, that we have to limit his time. 15 Ahmed Ingram SG Fr 6' 4" 205 West Fork, AR This walk on has a real nice looking long range shot, but that is about all he is good for right now. POINT GUARDS 55 Thomas Delrosario PG Sr 6' 0" 178 East Greenbush, NY Tommy D. is set for a brilliant senior season as our starting point guard. 54 James Raby PG Jr 6' 2" 194 Ilion, NY James is being groomed for the starting position next year with plenty of playing time this season. 33 John Craven PG Fr 6' 0" 173 Rochester, NY This freshman has skills and is in a similar situation to Raby. They will duke it out for a starting job and playing time this season. Pre Season Top 25

November 15, 2015
Mount St. Mary’s (0-0) at Colgate (0-0) We breeze through an early season warmup game with a 83-54 victory. Tom D. has a double double with 13 points and 11 assists. Jones and Litton also score in double figures as does Charles Barr off the bench. A solid effort in our opening game.
November 21, 2015 Long Island (0-0) at Colgate (1-0) We take care of business once again at home, with a 77-60 performance. Pierre Jones was a monster today with 19 points and 16 boards. Tom D. had 12 and 10 assists. Murphy also scored a dozen, while Moses scored 18. We are off to a fine start.
November 27, 2015 Liberty (1-0) at Colgate (2-0) We suffer a setback here with a 54-52 loss. The offense was pretty stagnant, even though three players scored in double figures, our team lead scored only 11. The defense was fine, but the shots just did not fall for us.
November 30, 2015 Colgate (2-1) at Montana State (0-3) We rebound with a win on the road, our first road game of the year. Final score was 80-64. Moses and Pierre were unstoppable on the blocks. Both scored 24 points and Moses had 17 boards while Pierrre had 10. Tom D. chipped in with 14 points to get the high low game working to a tee.
November Recap Ivy League
Besides that dud of a game against Liberty, we are off to a pretty good start. Top 25

December 3, 2015
Cal State Fullerton (3-2) at Colgate (3-1) Another disappointing offensive performance out of our team as we drop this home game, 64-49. Jones cleaned up the board with 17 rebounds and Moses scored 13, but we didn’t really come to play today.
December 9, 2015 Lamar (2-2) at Colgate (3-2) We snap back into shape after our last’s game disaster and handle Lamar with relative ease, 84-71. Tom D. led the team in scoring with 23 points. Murphy, Jones and Moses all scored in double figures. It seems when our 2 big guys come to play, we are very tough to beat.
December 15, 2015 Colgate (4-2) at Coastal Carolina (3-3) Coastal is one of the tougher OOC games we will play and we lay an egg on the road, going down 77-60. Moses got hurt and was limited to 8 minutes which hurt our chances from the get go.
Mid Month Recap
Moses will be close to 100% and available for our next contest. Top 25

Colgate (4-3) at Morris Brown (3-4) Our road struggles continue with a 79-70 setback. Pierre and Murphy led the way with 16 points each and Tom D. added 15. Their starting center dominated Moses to the tune of 19 points, which should not happen often.
December 24, 2015 Cleveland State (2-6) at Colgate (4-4) Back in the comfortable confines of our home arena we get back on the right side of the W/L column with a 55-50 win. It was an ugly game, but we came away with it. Moses and Pierre both had a double, double, showcasing our low post play.
December 28, 2015 Southeastern Louisiana (4-5) at Colgate (5-4) We get clobbered in this game. An embarrassing 73-39 final score gets the players the brunt of my frustrations in the next practice.
January Recap PF Fabian Straight, from North Smithfield, RI has committed to Colgate. Fabian is a 3 star recruit. He is not ready for the collegiate level right now, but his potential on both sides of the ball is very, very good, and by his junior season, should be a very productive player for us.
We seem to be on one game and then off the next. A bit more consistency when league play begins could turn out to give us a good season. Top 25

Central Connecticut (4-6) at Colgate (5-5) We struggled a bit in this game, but I think they had a superior talent gap. The final score was 72-65, so we staying cometative throughout. Moses scored 20 and had 10 boards to lead the team in both categories.
January 8, 2016 Colgate (5-6) at Albany (4-7) Albany gets some revenge for the beating we have handed them the last few years and take this one on their home court, 59-56. Pierre and Tom D. were our only real offensive threats. The rest of the team struggled on the road today.
January 12, 2016 Garnder Webb (5-14) at Colgate (5-7) We have no problems with the lowest rated prestige team in the country. We take this one 75-50. All starters scored in double figures except for Wampler. Great distribution in this game.
January 15, 2016 Northeastern (5-7) at Colgate (6-7) We would like to get off to a good start in conference play this year, and we cannot afford to give up any home games. We come out playing hard and hold off a Northeastern comeback, then pull away at the end for a 77-66 victory. Moses and Pierre combined for 39 points in the paint and Tom D. added 11 points and 10 assists.
January 16, 2016 Colgate (7-7) at Campbell (11-3) We look tired after playing with so much intensity last night and drop this road game 77-61. We will need to get them back at our place, as Campbell looks like an early front runner in the league.
Mid-Month Recap
We always find ourselves playing from behind late in the season, so a nice run of conference wins would be a great change of pace right now. Top 25

Colgate (7-8) at Vermont (5-9) We get our first road win in conference play thanks to a suffocating defense. The final here was 66-35. Moses and Pierre combined for another 35 points and 19 baords, continuing to dominate other big men. Tom D. remains consistant and scored 14 today.
January 28, 2016 Colgate (8-8) at Cornell (5-13) Our road woes pick right back up though as we get crushed by an inferior team, 87-53. Murphy was our only player who could hit the basket, as he had 18.
January Recap Wendall Wampler was placed on academic probation following the January reports. We move Freeman Murphy to the SF spot and promote John Craven to the starting SG position. Ivy League
We are right in the thick of things here with only 1 conference loss. Top 25

Colgate (8-9) at Holy Cross (12-5) This could prove to be our biggest win of the season as we thump one of the league front runners on their home court, 73-65. Our three stars, Moses, Pierre and Tom D. combined for 46 of our points, and led the team to a much needed road win.
February 6, 2016 Brown (9-8) at Colgate (9-9) We lose all the momentum from yesterday’s game with a lackluster performance in a 65-62 defeat. We had two double figure scoring performaces from the bench and only 1 from the starters. That should tell you that our regular guys were not ready for this one.
February 12, 2016 Wagner (14-4) at Colgate (9-10) We get ourselves right back into contention for a league title with a 70-62 win against another of the top teams. Jones was the star of the game, as he scored 12 and had 15 boards. Tom D. led all scorers with 16 points.
February 13, 2016 Campbell (16-5) at Colgate (10-10) We finally win the second led of a two game series, and with ease today, 77-62. This game tell the rest of the league we will have to be included in championship talk. All starters scored in double figures except for Craven, who was shut out.
Mid Month Recap
We are in great shape here, just a half a game back, and we already beat Holy Cross on their court. Top 25

February 16, 2016
Colgate (11-10) at Wagner (15-5) Another huge road win, which we have never been able to accomplish in conference play. We take this one 78-74. There starting center erupted for 29 points, but we were able to counter that from great offensive performances by Moses, Tom D. and Charles Barr.
February 19, 2016 Colgate (12-10) at North Carolina A&T (12-9) This is our first game against a new conference team. Our trip down there was not apleasant one, as we lose, 86-65. Pierre and Murphy had fine games, but it was not nearly enough.
February 26, 2016 Holy Cross (16-8) at Colgate (12-11) In the showdown game, we take care of business on our home court and sweep Holy Cross with a 58-48 win. We struggled to score, but Freeman Murphy led the way with 12 points including some clutch late baskets.
February 27, 2016 Vermont (6-18) at Colgate (13-11) We keep the momentum with an easy win over Vermont, 91-64, and are now seriously vying for a spot in the NCAA tournament. Pierre led the way with 23 points and 11 boards as Moses had to sit this one out due to a nagging injury. He will be back at full strength for our next game.
February Recap Wampler is back from academic suspension, but we will stick with the lineup we have been using, since it is working out great for us.
With just 3 games to play, we control our own destiny for the first time ever. We have games at Brown and Northeastern, plus a home date with NC A&T. Top 25

March 4, 2016
North Carolina A&T (14-11) at Colgate (14-11) It is senior day in Colgate and we come out pumped up to play and win this one with ease, 76-60. Senior Pierre Jones made his final game at home a great one, scoring 18 points to lead the way, along with 7 boards.
Holy Cross and Brown both suffered losses, so we have a full 2 game lead with 2 to play. One win and we are the champs! March 5, 2016 Colgate (15-11) at Brown (15-11) We get it done on the road and celebrate our first ever Ivy League Championship!!!!!! The final here was 72-64. Moses, Pierre and Freeman Murphy all had great games, each scoring at least 12, with Moses leading all scorers with 21!
March 11, 2016 Colgate (16-11) at Northeastern (11-16) This game is just academic and we play like it, falling 63-58.
Final Standings
We are bracketed in the East Region as a #14 seed.

I was hired by Colgate, and my first goal was to make the NCAA tournament. It took a long whiloe, and there were many painful moments, but it all paid off as I stepped onto the court on this day, knowing that me and my team will play in the NCAA’s and have a 1 in 65 shot at the National Title.
Our road to the title begins with a tall order, the #3 seeded Kansas Jayhawks. I don’t expect to win this game, but anything can happen this time of year, and as long as we play our A game, I will be happy. In the meantime, Wagner earned a #1 seed in the NIT tournament. They faced Illinois-Chicago in the first round and lost 78-61. Campbell was also invited to the NIT as a 6 seed and face Dartmouth in the first round. They win 79-62. As for us, we are a 1 and done team, as we fall to the Jayhawks 89-62. We just couldn’t compete man for man against Kansas, although Moses and Pierre each scored in double figures as did Tom D. Our three stars played them competitively, but the rest of the team is not nearly at that talent level. Still, a spectacular season for COLGATE! Campbell loses in the 2nd round by 1 point to Santa Clara and the Ivy League season is over. Final Four #4 Arizona #1 Kentucky #1 Fresno State #2 Connecticut Kentucky takes home the National Championship by beating Connecticut. Montana wins the NIT title.

Pierre Jones and Tom Delarosario were named to the Ivy League 2nd team. We also got a late recruit signing SG Ronald Messner from Henrietta, NY will attend Colgate. Ronald is a 3 star recruit. He is a great 3 point shooter and will develop into a defensive star for us.

Off-Season Procedures
We had the #60th ranked recruiting class. Syracuse had the #1 ranked class in the country. A pleasant surprise as my coaching skills have increased and I get to distribute 20 points. I add 5 to each category, across the board! Our prestige has moved up to 37 now. The AD now expects us to compete for the conference title every year now. That is a tall order seeing as it took so long to get this far, and we are losing two of our best 3 players. I get a bunch of job offers from some decent schools (prestige in () ) Washington State (37) Virginia Commonwealth (41) Sam Houston (43) Eastern Washington (42) Northern Illinois (38) Idaho State (44) Western Michigan (38) I decline them all and want to continue what is happening here in Colgate. My coaching assistant has left for a job with Seton Hall. Our recruiting director also leaves. He goes to Drexel. Brett Nichols is our new scouting director. He is rated 45 James Lucy is our new X’s and O’s man. He is rated 40 on offense and 49 on defense. I have 12 games to schedule, of which 7 can be home contests. In May we schedule: Mount St. Mary’s, Liberty, Long Island, Southeastern Louisiana, Binghampton, and Garnder Webb. All bottom of the barrel teams. In June we schedule: UC Riverside, Buffalo, Albany, New Hampshire, and Sacred Heart June begins the recruiting period and we have 4 scholarships to offer. In July, we round out our schedule with a road date with Lafayette. November rolls around and we have no early committals, but we are in the running for a couple of really prized recruits, including a 5 star guy who is very, very interested in our program!

Your 2016-2017, Defending Ivy League Champions!
CENTER 14 Moses Litton C Sr 6' 8" 208 Accord, NY Moses is our star player and can do it all. It goes without saying that he is our starting Center and the focus of our team this year. 2 Chadwick Franck C Fr 6' 8" 252 Cuba, IL A walk on. POWER FORWARDS 24 Damon Herrera PF Jr 6' 6" 213 Fulton, MO Damon is a walk on who has some usable skills. Still, probably won’t get much time, but you never know. 12 Richard Sanchez PF So 6' 8" 244 Monticello, UT Another walk on. No upside here. 11 Fabian Straight PF Fr 6' 9" 230 North Smithfield, RI Fabian is going to need time to develop, but could produce some nice stats for us in a few years. SMALL FORWARDS 43 Donny Bray SF Sr 6' 9" 247 Dracut, MA This senior walk on will not do much scoring, but should be able to hold his own on the glass and on defense. We are just very young, and nowhere near as good as last season. He will start at PF. 21 Wendell Wampler SF Sr 6' 6" 225 Green River, WY Wendell will get the start at SF, where he looks better than last year. Still, we are now starting 2 walk-ons. 0 Julius Fielding SF So 6' 7" 227 Wellsville, OH Julius is a decent shooter and defender and will get some PT off the bench/ SHOOTING GUARDS 40 Freeman Murphy SG Jr 6' 4" 212 Brooklyn, NY Freeman is our starting shooting guard and our number 2 option behind Moses. He is a very skilled player. 51 Michael Brown SG So 6' 3" 195 Buffalo, NY This sophomore is a very good shooter, as good as Murphy, but his defense is poor, which will limit his minutes off the bench. 15 Ahmed Ingram SG So 6' 4" 207 West Fork, AR A walk on with a decent 3 pointer and not much else to offer. 23 Joesph McGee SG Fr 6' 3" 183 Floral Park, NY Another 3 point specialist, but he can cover his man, so he will be the second man off the bench for us. 13 Ronald Messner SG Fr 6' 4" 186 Henrietta, NY We seem loaded with 3 point shooter. Ron can also play some D and will sub in where needed. POINT GUARDS 54 James Raby PG Sr 6' 3" 199 Ilion, NY Raby never was able to crack the starting lineup, but will be invaluable as our 6th man. 33 John Craven PG So 6' 0" 174 Rochester, NY Craven earns the starting PG spot. A great shooter, a good defender, and really knows how to distribute the ball. PreSeason Top 25

November 13, 2016
Mount St. Mary’s (0-0) at Colgate (0-0) We get off on the right foot with a 83-47 win. Moses lives up the billing with a 28 point, 10 rebound performance to kick off his senior campaign. Wampler, Murphy and Craven all scored in double figures as well.
November 18, 2016 Gardner Webb (1-1) at Colgate (1-0) The first signs of a bad season come to light in a 95-60 thrashing we get at home. Only 2 players manage to score more than 7 points for us.
November 23, 2016 Binghamton (1-1) at Colgate(1-1) We rebound with a nice win over an instate rival, 76-63. Moses gets back on track with a 20 and 10 game. Murphy goes for 17 and Raby and Fielding each score a dozen off the bench.
November 29, 2016 Southeastern Louisiana (1-2) at Colgate (2-1) Another poor performance, and we get crushed 94-56. Moses came to play and led all scorers with 28, but the rest of the team flat out sucked.
November Recap The two big time recruits we were in the running for have both declared for the draft. It is going to be a tough recruiting season now.
I have a bad feeling the on the court results might be even worst than the recruiting this season. Top 25

December 6, 2016
Colgate (2-2) at Long Island (2-2) Our first road game of the year is a disaster, as we lose 73-57. I honestly don’t see things getting much better. Moses leads all scorers again with 29, but he is getting no help whatsoever.
December 12, 2016 Liberty (3-2) at Colgate (2-3) Another blowout on our home court to a pretty bad team. We lose 75-56. Moses had 23 and 9, but there is nothing else to report here, and likely not for the rest of the season.
Mid Month Review
It is starting to get ugly here. Top 25
