I have a strong suspicion that there's a market here for this thread...

Mrs Q and I have long had a penchant for making up ad hoc parody songs...just whatever topic is at hand, blended in and wrapped around some familiar song tune.

We can't be alone in this, right?

I don't have a long list that I'm especially proud of, I suppose. And I/we yend to do a lot that are to songs that we like that may not be terribly widely popular... And I assure you that I won't be providing any Antmeister-style media to support the thread.

So, with that lead in...anyone feeling this? Care to share?

Placeholder response, just in case Mrs Q and I ever actually finish our parody version of "Desperado" sung in praise of synthetic language. It's our great unfinished masterpiece.

Most of ours entail singing about our animals to them...

No, you're not alone in this, Quik. I make up non-sense songs all the time. All. The. Time. Simply because, like the Borg, "resistance is futile", Lady H_B gets in on the act from time to time. Most of my "songs" are just quick, little diddies that are only a verse or two.

My latest was a version of "Hey Jude" sung about my fat, greedy dog.

What's really annoying to me is when I get maybe one verse into one of these little creative bouts then lose my creative energy but that one verse or a fraction of it is stuck in my head for the rest of the day on repeat.

My cat is named Crash, and I always sing a modified version of Queen's Flash Gordon theme song to him.

Yep, me too. My own personal favorite is "It's still real estate to me" sung to a popular Billy Joel song which I'm sure would be a Quik favorite.

The one parody I can remember writing was for Vanessa Atler, using Coolio's "Gangsta's Paradise" as the base.

I used to work with this guy named meesha for a couple years back in the mid 90s. Every popular song from that era, he would sing along and substitute "Meesh" for the lyric "Me".

Picture "All Eyez on Meesh" or "Just between you and Meesh".

Anyways anytime I hear a song from that ERA I think of him. And curse him in my head.

I have made up probably twenty or thirty parody verses of "In the Jailhouse Now" with various references to my two daughters. Of course, with that song, it's been reshaped and rewritten enough times that I couldn't even tell you what was in its original form, so I don't feel too guilty.

Catchy tune, though.

The "Flash" song is probably in the hall of fame for this purpose around here, too. That and Foreigner's "Juke Box Hero"both come to mind for me, both Mrs Q and I go to those wells frequently.

To the tune of Mr. Mister's "Kyrie":

To the tune of "The Beverly Hillbillies"

"Come and listen to a story 'bout a man named Joad;
Couldn't feed his family so he took 'em on the road.
Took 'em all the way
Out to Cal-i-for-ni-ay;
But all they ended up with was a dead ba-bay."

:sigh: And that's the difference between me and other people. Some people make up cute little ditties about their cats or dogs. Me, I make them up about the Holocaust or the Great Depression.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go find some cute way to work Don Cheadle and genocide into an Eagles tune...

Made this up during my days as a McDonald's employee:

Welcome to McDonald's,
We got fun and games,
We got everything you want,
Honey, we know the names,
We are the ones that cook your food,
The ones that burn your meat--
If you've got enough money, honey,
We've got your disease,
McDonald's, welcome to McDonald's;
Watch it bring you to your ja-na-na-na-na-na knees, knees,
C'mon, uhh, I wanna watch you eat!

Welcome to McDonald's,
We take it day by day,
If you want you're gonna eat,
but then you're gonna pay--
And you're a very hungry girl,
Very hard to please,
You taste some fries now,
But won't get them for free,
McDonald's, welcome to McDonald's,
Fill my, my, my... my need to eat,
C'mon, now, I wanna hear you scream!

Welcome to McDonald's,
I work here every day,
Learn to work like an animal,
for very little pay;
You gotta order what you see,
You'll eat it eventually,
You can order anything you want,
But you better not order from me,
At McDonald's,
Welcome to McDonald's,
Watch it bring you to your ja-na-na-na-na-na knees, knees,
C'mon, I'm gonna watch you eat!

With your fries,
you can have a
have a shake to suck down,
...suck down
...suck down
...suck down
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

You know where you are?
You're at McDonald's, baby--
You're gonna dieeeeeeeeeeeee!

At McDonald's,
Welcome to McDonald's,
Watch it bring you to your ja-na-na-na-na-na knees, knees;
At McDonald's,
Welcome to McDonald's,
Have some fries, fries, fries to eat,
At McDonald's,
Welcome to McDonald's,
Watch it bring you to your j-na-na-na-na-na knees, knees,
Down at McDonald's,
Welcome to McDonald's,
Watch it bring you to your--
It's gonna bring you DOWN! Huhhhhh!

Yeah. You can use it for any word basically. "Soup" ah ahhhhhh! Or "Bath" ah ahhhhhhh! So versatile.

lol, we do this also. We call our dog stinky and most of the songs revolve around that.

With this law passed, well I know I'm gonna be,
I'm gonna be the man who takes your land from you
When we go out, yeah I know theres gonna be
Makeshift forts, no good facilities or food
And in this cold front, well I know your gonna freeze
Youre gonna freeze because its in the winter too
And if you fight it, Yeah I know its gonna be
Its gonna be a futile fight for you the few

But you will walk 500 miles
And walk or boat 500 more
Just to see how many in a thousand miles
Will fall down dead for sure..
---
Got one verse and a chorus done anyway.. Lonely night at work.
