Gotta Brag about the Wife

I just wanted to brag a bit about Mrs. KWhit. Last week she was offered a principal role in a commercial for the Georgia Lottery.

It filmed last Thursday and will be running starting in January. It is the followup to this spot which I personally saw on TV about 100 times over the past year.

I'll post the one she's in when it starts running, but we're really excited about it. Obviously, it will only air in Georgia and perhaps some surrounding states, but the one above was aired regionally during the Super Bowl last year. We're hoping this one has an equally long and high-profile run.

Just thought I'd share some of our good news.

Yeah. She's got some cool pics that were taken of her running on a treadmill (which isn't seen on screen) in front of a green screen.

It will be fun to see the finished product.

Very cool man. Do you have to pick out the brown M&Ms before giving them to her?

One time I was in a beer commercial. I said "I prefer Genaro's, but what do I know? I'm a bear!"

Seriously, though. That's cool. Does this mean she can never play the lottery?

Nah. She's not a Lottery employee or anything, so if she wanted she could still play.

First of all, congratulations to her. It's a competitive field so any success, especially to this level, is kudo worthy.

But on a side note

Hmm ...
Q.Who can play the Georgia Lottery?

A.Anyone who is 18 years of age or older can play Georgia Lottery games except for Georgia Lottery employees, Board members and family members residing in the same household; vendors, subcontractors, employees and family members residing in the same household. There are no restrictions placed on retailers and their employees

That's a narrow distinction there. Their agency is a vendor, the talent would seem like subcontractors of the vendor. I imagine she's okay since (presumably) her check comes from the agency rather than the GA Lottery Commision, but I think it's actually a closer call than it might appear.

And I can only imagine the conspiracy theories that would abound if any of the featured talent in any spot suddenly showed up on the podium with a big cardboard check.

Interesting. We never even discussed that. We don't really play the lottery anyway, but it might be worth finding that out for sure.

Oh yeah. Evidently she was directed to pretty much look like a fool, so I'll have fun pulling out the close ups of her mugging in fear at the camera.

Pretty much forever. We met at an acting conservatory where we both went to college. Afterward we moved to NYC and she had some success there, but we moved back to the ATL to be closer to family and have kids. She has just gotten back into it and this is her first big booking since she's been back with an agent.

Her commercial just started running in the Atlanta area. I saw it last night about 5 times on different channels. So if you live in this area, you'll be getting sick of it soon.

Anyway, they also put it up on YouTube. Here it is. She's the bride.

My wife did a regional spot for Farm Bureau Insurance several years ago where she was a bride. She said she's never been so pampered so that she looked perfect for every shot.

Cool that they got Zach Galifinakis to play the groom.

Incidentally, the spot ran locally during the SB on the Atlanta affiliate.
