Windows 7 problem

Anyone using this know why web pages take so long to load up? I bought a laptop a little over a month ago and got the free windows 7 upgrade. I then upgraded and now surfing the internet is painfully slow.

I'm not so sure that's a problem outside your system. In fact I believe IE8 renders significantly quicker than previous versions.

In any case, I'm a Firefox snob.

Edit: By upgrade do you mean you did an upgrade from XP/Vista to 7 without a clean wipe?

Oh, all bets are off then . I've never had anything but various bad experiences resulting in instability or performance oddities doing upgrades like that.

I always, always do a clean wipe.

I had a problem like that on my Vista install with IE 8 and it was due to AVG Anti Virus. Do you have any security software installed?

Combofix is a great program if you think you are having any malware/spyware issues. You'd likely have to run that with another program though so if you think it might be that let me know I can send you the right direction.

Thanks. After doing a lot of google searches, it sounds like the problem is that I did the upgrade instead of a clean install. So I am going to go in that direction tomorrow.

Well I did a clean install today. Web pages seem to open up fine now, however downloading anything is very slow.

Do a speed test and check your connection. Speak Easy is a good one.

I called a guy yesterday and he had me do that. I told him what the numbers were and he said it has to be my computer.

The problem was one of the drivers for my network card. It felt like I looked every where for it, finally found someone who posted a link to it. All is well now.
