I'm up at my parents' place, doing Thanksgiving with my foodie family and some foodie family friends. The menu will be good, we have smoked turkey, turkey legs stuffed with chestnut sausage stuffing, (with extra chestnut sausage stuffing NOT stuffed into the legs, too) an apricot/grand marnier/almond/sausage stuffing, cranberry-kumquat sauce, brussels sprouts, green beans with Cornflakes, Parker House rolls (homemade). My thumb's back in a cast (what holiday doesn't include a cast....), so I've been helping my mom with the bird and the bread and the stuffing though mostly I'm doing the mis en place.

Yesterday I made a pumpkin-bourbon cheesecake and we made a pumpkin pie this morning, so those will be the desserts, topped with bourbon whipped cream with pecans.

/tk

And the verdict is in ... a very sleepy thumbs up to The Fitzpatrick Hotel in Washington, GA (about 40 miles east of Athens).

Better than average price ($15.99 ayce Thanksgiving with turkey, ham, pork roast, & prime rib), tastefully decorated with quality antiques, good atmosphere, and very likable & pleasant hands-on ownership with the husband hosting & the wife carving.

Well the Mrs. said no to the grilled turkey so I ended up tossing it in the crockpot and cooked it with a homemade turkey gravy and french onion soup combo. (I had to quarter it)

It's been cooking all day, just took the taste test and this is probably one of the better Turkeys I have ever made.

Going to be settling down here and eating in about 30 minutes with a great Shiraz and a Riesling.
