I'm Published!

One of my history professors chose a paper I wrote to publish on a website he is creating about Washington State during the depression. I realize it isn't SI or anything, but I am still pretty excited about it and it will be nice to put on a resume.

Real good read, congrats! Seattle has a fascinating sports history in my opinion, which is why it was so sad to see the Sonics leave.

I believe I read on Mark Cuban's blog that ratings are way up for all sporting events on TV. Seems people like using sports as an outlet during rough times.

Edit: What are you looking to go into career wise? Journalism?

You know it's good when Rainmaker and I agree. That was a nice piece, Lathum.

Now that I've read it.... very nice piece. My only nitpick, and this is more a matter of my own personal aesthetic in terms of style: a few too many instances of would.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

To answer your question Rainmaker, when I went back to school I wanted to go into journalism. I realized pretty quickly that it is a dying art, so I shifted to history with my teaching endorsement.

The good thing about the history BA from University of Washington is it is very focused on writing so if I want to pursue that angle I'll have the qualifications to do so.

Nice read. Longacres opened in 1933 if Wiki is correct which also supports your thesis, with the first Longacres Mile run in 1935.
