Jon Miller isn't an analyst, and I happen to think he's one of the best announcers in baseball

One of the best ever. Couldn't believe it when the O's let him get away.

Way to lose it all. And over a chick anyone would have a hard time doing at closing time. What an idiot.

Ah gotcha. I actually like Kruk because he doesn't seem fake, unlike Stewart "Which Way You Looking" Scott.

I think he made up the addiction problem to cover for the fact that he was nailing some ugly chick.

1) That graph isn't proportional. A 1 on the crazy scale is apparently a 0.5 on the hot scale. Thus, a batshit crazy woman should be a 20 on the hot scale by the time you get there.

2) There's an awful lot of room for ugly crazies under the line. I don't see any kind of shading that says "anything outside the line doesn't exist."

With his voluntary trip to an inpatient treatment facility, Phillips becomes the latest in a growing number of celebrities to enter rehabilitation programs or seek counseling amid scandals about their behavior.

"If you can say, 'I'm getting treated for this,' it can be a way of saying, 'It's not my fault that I did it,'" said Lori Brown, an associate professor of sociology at Meredith College in Raleigh, N.C.

"We as a society are trying to 'medicalize' almost everything, even criminal or immoral behavior or behavior that's socially inept -- but being a jerk is being a jerk," Brown said. "For people who are in the rehab field, it can be irritating to know that someone really needs the resources and can't get them, when someone else may use it just to hide away for a while."

Nah, the red line is the line of demarcation; anything over is an acceptable level of crazy for that level of hot.

I believe its called the Vicki Mendoza diagonal.

Looks to me like ESPN waited until Bobby Valentine didn't get the Indians managerial job. I betcha Bobby V steps right into Phillips spot.

I like how Michael Irvin can have drugs found IN HIS CAR while being on ESPN, explains it on air, and is okay, but this guy is fired for being an embarassment

Very much enjoyed listening to Orioles broadcasts when Miller was in Baltimore, even as a transplant. I was disappointed when he left (another good Angelos move...)

While that deserves an explanation from ESPN, I do think it is different.

Phillips engaged in sexual relations with another employee, someone of a much lower position. Opens the door for sexual harrasment suits and the like.

But ESPN does have an odd history of how they handle issues internally. Some guys get fired like Reynolds and Salisbury (who actually only got a suspension at first for his) while others don't like Tirico.

For the record, I think Miller was better his first few years at ESPN and I've heard good things about his previous local work. I just think he's gotten stale the past couple when I've bothered watching.

Could be - it's not unheard of for ESPN personalities to become parodies of themselves...
