Rush Limbaugh and the St. Louis Rams

What are your thoughts on him buying the Rams? I don't like the guy, but I kind of like having owners like that in the league. I think we've neutered sports so much that it can take the fun out of it. There is something about having an enemy in sports, an owner, team, or player you hate. It would liven up the league and a franchise that is essentially dead right now.

You guys can't tell me that the leagues would be better without the Steinbrenners, Jerry Jones, Al Davis, and Mark Cubans.

It would be interesting. What kind of ownership do the Rams currently have? Are they cheap?

I believe he makes close to $40 million a year. He's been doing this for a long time and has probably made a lot on books, speaking gigs, and site memberships. I'd be he's worth at least $250 million. With guys that wealthy, they usually have others that go in on it with him being the guy running it.

They would never approve him, but I think it would be some nice drama for the league. Imagine a playoff game againt the Rams, Rush smoking a cigar in the owner's box.

He's going in with Dave Checketts who already owns the Blues of the NHL and Real Salt Lake in MLS. So he's not doing it alone and I doubt he'd even be majority owner, probably just one of the major partners in the deal.

It's no certainty that the owners of the Rams will even sell yet, because I think they'd make a lot more money shipping the team back where it came from...so he might just hold on for a few more years, rather than sell out now for what's likely to be an offer that won't be that huge given neither are big-time billionaires.

Please move them back to LA. Niners/Rams games were more fun when they were playing in Los Angeles.

I don;t think Rush would move the team to LA

I don;t want Rush to own the team as long as Bulger is there.

He wouldn't. That's why he wants to buy them. He's a native of the burbs and wants to keep them in town. I'm saying the current owners won't want to sell, because if they wait a few years, they can get out of their lease on a clause that the Edward Jones Dome is not in the Top 25% of the league's stadiums.

And that someone -- provided there was someone -- would step up and pay more to get a team into LA than to keep them in Da Lou.

Not even my niece's imagination could pull that off.

I think they were more fun because the Niners must have won the last five years worth of games. "New city, same old sorry ass Rams." -Dana Stubblefield

I think it would be as successful as any other time an entertainer decides to run a business. Rush would be to the rams as Master P was Ricky Williams.

If I'm the Rams, I don't want it. This ownership group doesn't have a lot of sports cred. Limbaugh doesn't know anything about football and Checketts hasn't exactly ushered in a new era of domination with the Blues.

I'm obviously not a Rams fan but if Limbaugh bought my favorite team, I'd be done with them.

Which is why it probably won't happen. If Limbaugh's bid is accepted, a lot of people will be appealing to the NFL to reject the sale. I don't think the NFL want's the controversy

Yeah, the NFL gets a lot of crap for the lack of black coaches and executives. It would be interesting to see the drama play out, but the NFL is not going to allow a racist to own a team.
