Any good anniversary gift ideas?

My first anniversary is coming up this weekend, and apparently, like everything else, this means I need to buy a gift. The wife and I have agreed to spend no more than $50, meaning I'll be expected to come in at the $100-200 range.

Any of you old, decrepit-types come up with any great ideas for your first anniversary that you could pass on the young generation?

Good point.

How about a one way plane ticket?

Seriously though, I think on our first anniversary, we spent a long weekend on Sanibel Island. That was B.C. (before child). Since then, we've used the occasion to go out by ourselves fora good meal.

As far as gifts, we treat it like a brithday - we each get the other something we want. This past anniversary, my wife finally broke me down and I bought her a jacket for her engagement ring. She's held that one over me since we got engaged, and the ring cost me all of $100 because she used a hand-me-down diamond.

I took my wife to Maui on our first. We got caught in the hotel hottub by some hotel clerk closing down the pool. To this day I wonder how long he spent watching before he decided to make his presence known.

I've found that gift certificates for fluffy spa-type things like pedicures, mud wraps, massages, etc. go over well with my missus.

Bunny ears, big clown feet, a snorkel and a smile.

Worked for me on the first anniversary of all five of my marriages.

dola.

Seriously though. My wife and I spent a three or four day weekend up in northern Wisconisn. Very relaxing and quite romantic.

As for gifts, we never get anything huge for our anniversary. we would rather put the money toward a getaway, especially since the children came along.

perhaps my advice here is no good...

I always felt that aniversaries should be spent together, so I suggest finding a B&B in some neat little town with places for her to shop and the two of you to eat. Go to a nice hotel in a big city if you prefer. Objects are objects, but time together is a memory.

(fuck, I sound like a greeting card)

I have no recollection of what I got her for our 1st anniversary, but what I bought her this year (a tree - a weeping cherry tree that we planted in the front yard) worked out pretty well.

I believe "anal sex" is the unofficial 2nd anniversary gift topic.

ignore her until she cries, and then tell her "I am not pushing you out..... Because your not in."

Then as she breaks into sobs, say "just because you cry, it does not mean that you are right."

I learned this from being funny. And cocky. Both funny and cocky.

My wife and I drove to a bed and breakfast for our 1st anniversary for a nice weekend together. Also, I got her a videogame that she likes (it was Monster Rancher for the playstation) as I was actually fortunate enough to marry someone who not only allows me to have time to play videogames but enjoys playing them as well

My wife and I were married in a civil ceremony here in Phoenix at the Embassy Suites near the Biltmore. Whatever else we do, we usually wind up having somebody take the kids for the night and spend our anniversary night at the hotel. It's wonderful just to spend a day away from the normal surroundings and relax a bit.

I am guessing a Pedro Martinez bobble head doll might be an ok 1st anniversary present...

Get her one of those sweet digital video projectors that run around $2000.

I've always wanted one of those.
