Always remember to tell your loved ones...

...that you love them.

My mom got into a horrible car accident last night, a bus rammed into the trunk of the car that she was driving, and then the bus swerved and slammed into another bus. The entire rear end of the Honda Civic my mom was driving was obliterated to shreds.

The accident happened around 8:30 PM, and I was able to get to the hospital where she was taken at around 10:30.

By some miracle (and thanks to seatbelts), she only sufferered whiplash and xrays showed no broken bones. She was discharged at around 11:30 PM, and I've taken her home. My dad spent all night filing police reports and getting the bus company to pay for the damages / hospital bills.

I'm very glad she's alright, and I gave her an extra hug and a kiss goodnight. She was very shaken by the events.

It's 3:00 AM, and I can't sleep, realizing that I could have lost my mom tonight.

Glad to hear that your mom is ok. Thank you for sharing these words of truth with us. I am away from my wife and kids until next summer (I am visiting a couple of times), and everyday I wake up I hope it is another normal day and that something doesn't happen where I can't be there.

Give your wife/husband/mother/father/grandmother/grandfather/children/aunt/uncle/best friends a hug and remind yourself how trivial most things are in life compared to the alternative...

Man, if I lost either of my parents right now I'd probably be a complete wreck for awhile... I'll be hoping for the best. What a scary situation.

I had a similar situation happen to my father. It's horrible rushing to the hospital not knowing how your parents are, and thinking of all the things you want to say to them. I'm glad she's ok.

What a relief! Thank God she's alright...

I learned this lesson the hard way. The last time I saw my dad, as I left the nursing home he was in I heard the inner voice tell me "Go back and tell him you love him" just as if I heard someone speak. I laughed it off, as I had just took him to lunch, where I told him I would get him out of there & he could live with me. That was a Saturday. Monday I got the call. Since then, I always make a point of telling my mom, sister & daughter those three words, since I don't ever want to regret not saying them again.

Thanks for the well-wishes guys, it's very much appreciated.

Mom's taken the next couple of days off work (she's a bank manager), and so far, no side effects from the crash.
