Well that was random.

Somebody stole the sandbags out of the back of my pickup truck.

In freaking June. What in the world would anybody want with those this time of year?

It was something like 48 degrees here a couple of days ago. I don't think Wisconsin is really prime zombie territory.

Even a hurricane won't get rid of the Lions.

Hmmm...don't discount the cold. I'd still keep a watchful eye.

How many sandbags are we talking about by they way?

Four 50-lb bags.

I'm not sure when exactly they got yoinked, but I did notice this afternoon that my car was handling differently than I'd gotten used to, and discovered their absence when I went to my truck after going to the grocery store about 90 minutes ago.

That is odd. "Hey look! Sandbags!! I'm taking them."

Reminds me of a few years back, someone broke into my apartment and stole the controlers and the cables to my Playstation. Left the Playstation and everything else alone.

Heh.

It's like, I could almost understand it if it were October or November. Someone got caught with their pants down on weather and just went 'yoink' so they could drive.

But June?

Isn't the retail value of 4 sandbags like 20 dollars or less.

I'm fairly sure I paid something like $6-8 for all four of them last October. That's partly why this is so baffling.

Maybe they were eco-minded folks, and just wanted you to get better gas mileage in your truck.

Are you sure you didn't just lose the controlers and cables? Maybe it was a prank? Or was the door like busted down and everything?

One suspects that the cables had been hooked up prior to their disappearance. Difficult to lose something in such a circumstance.

And Kodos - if there are any eco-thieves out there who are seriously concerned about the difference between 14.5 mpg and 15 mpg, does that mean they've completed their stealth conversion of the nation's SUV fleet to biofuels?

After the hurricane hit here last year the local media is pushing hurricane preparation. I am happy to say that my house is now completely surrounded with sandbags. I will return your sandbags in the fall SackAttack. I have to return a lot in that area actually.

That's a long way to go for sandbags.

I did have a roommate at the time and asked if he had borrowed them and he said no and that he was actually playing it the night before.

Come to find out, he forgot to lock the sliding door to our patio when he went to smoke and we assumed that whoever took the controlers and the cables went through the sliding door.

We hypothisized that the old lady across the way from us took them, as we would call her Haggis because she was always yelling at the kids that lived there that would be playing up and down the sidewalk, to shut up.

When a hurricane is coming, the city allows you to fill up four sandbags. Four sandbags isn't saving squat, so a man must go to great lengths to save his house.

So are you saying you travel ~2000 miles for every set of four sandbags you get to save your house?

I once had someone break in my car to take my subwoofers and amp. They took all of that and left me $300 in cash on the center console. I was absolutely baffled. By the time I turned it into my insurance I was way ahead.

Oh and they left me the knife they used to cut the wires. Was a very nice hunting knife as well.
