The Gaming Backlog Thread

Well, 'backlog' isn't quite how I meant to put it, but it works anyway. I'm something of a packrat with games, picking up stuff I don't have time to play right NOW because I know I'll want to play it later, or playing stuff for a while when it first comes out, and then putting it away.

I did that with the original Ratchet & Clank, playing it quite a bit when first released, and then ended up setting it aside after my brother beat it several times in the span of a few days. I popped it in the PS3 the other night to revisit it, and noticed that my save file (copied from my memory card) was last accessed way back in 2002. So it's been about 7 years since I played the game, and I'd imagine there are other PS2 games I own that I either haven't played in a similar amount of time, or just have never started.

Anybody else start playing stuff recently that you hadn't previously touched in a few years?

Final Fantasy XII comes right to mind for me, but I haven't quite jumped back into it because I'm still going through my re-play of Final Fantasy VI (playing the GBA version).

Games I've started and mean to get back to:
ChronoTrigger
Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney
Lost Odyssey
Dragon Quest VIII

Games I purchased and haven't started:
Blue Dragon
Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction
Dragon Quest V
Quite a few DS games whose titles I don't remember

Dola,
My big problem right now is that I do love the traditional JRPG's and I have a ton of them on my list. Unfortunately, I've found it's easier to play only one at a time so I don't lose track of which story I'm in...

I got a new gaming laptop back in December. It was my first new computer since 2005.

Thanks in large part to Steam and the holidays I went on a bit of a buying binge.

I have installed, but not played:

Company of Heroes
World In Conflict
Bioshock
Dawn of War II
Half-Life 2 Episodes 1-2
Portal

Pretty much the only games I have played have been "Worldwide Soccer Manager" and "Left 4 Dead." Those two carried me through about April and since then between work and the NHL playoffs, my gaming time has been reduced to about zero.

Shoot, I forgot the SMT games on my list!
And I would like to pick up Avalon Code, but I *really* can't justify it right now, knowing how far behind I am.

I'd be here just about all night if I tried to list every tabletop / dice-and-chart sports game that fits this description.

But yeah, I know what you mean.

Since this seems to be console related though I'll add one from my son (and me by extension more from curiosity than real interest). He just started & finished Bioshock last week, which I think is pretty far behind the curve.

Sadly, there are a *ton* more that I picked up without having opened them yet... I just didn't want to write a novel.

I too have yet to finish Persona 4. I'm close to the end but it's just such a long game and right where I'm at I probably need to spend at least an hour or two leveling up and I'd rather play other games instead.

See, to me this might be a sign that I own too many game systems.

I have a stack next to my computer that I haven't opened - Company of Heroes, Gothic 3, Titan Quest expansion.. I can't even think of what other ones right now. I don't think I've purchased a game new in a while. With rummage sales going on, I usually just pick up my games there and throw them on the stack.
