This post could have come from me.

I don't even like basketball really... but I'm in a FBCB multiplayer league.. go figure!

With my current UCLA team, I have two monster centers that I play at C and PF - I call them H&H, and they are a big reason I won the national title last year and led the nation in rebounding.

Do most of you play with conference movement?

It varies - I am currently playing without it, but my next game I want to play with it - it creates some interesting results, and sometimes it's fun to take a formerly big name school which has fallen down a couple of conferences, and try to take them back up.

Yeah, I'm using "limited".. supposedly from what I've read, it tends to moves team with their regions.

Yeah, but those regions can be pretty broad. For instance, UC Irvine just moved to the Sun Belt. And pretty much any school can make the WAC in the west, midwest, or south because the footprint is so big (Hawaii to Louisiana).

Yeah, I play with Limited. It's strange seeing Drexel in the Ivy League, but fun all the same.

I switch back and forth within the same career. For example, I played Syracuse for 15 seasons in the Big East and then I switched to lowly Colgate with full conference movements on. I thought it would be cool to not only move up their prestige but to go up in the various conferences as well. Then after I did so (from 21 prestige in the Patriot to 78 prestige in the Big East), I reset all of the conferences and switched to another team. I just got done playing 13 seasons with UCLA in the Pac10 and next year, I'll switch to Florida Atlantic in the Atlantic Sun, with limited conference movements on.

Arizona actually had 8 losses...6 in a brutal Pac 10 where 8 teams made the tourney.

Thanks to whoever restarted this thread. I did a season yesterday (first time in 3 years) and had a blast. The game isn't perfect, but it sure is a lot of fun. And the game has been out for like...6 years or something? That's crazy that it has this kind of longevity.

*cough* The only thing that we need now is a sequel *cough*

and the most frustrating 6 years ever:

2108 37 2 16 0 2 2 100 Loss in NCAA Championship Game to Duke 68-74
2107 32 4 14 2 4 3 100 Loss in NCAA Final Four to Virginia 54-77

2104 33 4 13 3 4 3 100 Loss in NCAA Elite Eight to Duke 62-64
2103 30 6 14 2 5 5 99 Loss in NCAA Elite Eight to Duke 90-101

I went on to win back to back titles in 2109 and 2110 which eased the pain, but not by much!

I've had a similarly frustrating run in FOFC-FBCB (the online league):

2021 West Virginia Head Coach 32 6 13 3 Loss in FBCA Elite Eight
2022 West Virginia Head Coach 34 4 14 2 Loss in FBCA Final Four
2023 West Virginia Head Coach 32 7 13 3 Loss in FBCA Championship Game
2024 West Virginia Head Coach 33 4 15 1 Loss in FBCA Final Four
2025 West Virginia Head Coach 24 10 12 4 Loss in FBCA Tourney Round 2
2026 West Virginia Head Coach 29 8 12 4 Loss in FBCA Final Four
2027 West Virginia Head Coach 31 8 12 4 Loss in FBCA Elite Eight

The 2026 team had beaten Pitt at least twice (and I'm pretty sure I got them in the BE tourney, as well) and then we lost to them in the Final Four.

2018 Tennessee Head Coach 39 0 16 0 FBCA Champion
2019 Tennessee Head Coach 34 4 14 2 Loss in FBCA Elite Eight
2020 Tennessee Head Coach 35 4 15 1 Loss in FBCA Championship Game
2021 Tennessee Head Coach 36 2 15 1 Loss in FBCA Final Four
2022 Tennessee Head Coach 34 5 14 2 Loss in FBCA Championship Game

Does anyone have a "startup league" type file with nothing done but the conference changes to set the NCAA up like it is today? I spent a good deal of time making sure our online league was setup correctly but that was done to an existing league with some history already. If I ever saved off a copy of a starter league I've lost it.

Thanks!

I tried setting up a file like that, but had some troubles due to the different number of teams today, as well as how massively some of the conferences have changed over the past 5 years or so (I'm looking at you, Conference USA and Big East).

I seem to remember there were some things that couldn't be done, like the addition of North Dakota State and any other new entrants to division 1, but the overall conference setup with the existing teams was definitely possible. I can't believe I lost that stuff, I think I did it on my work laptop, I had a GIANT text file documenting every single thing I'd changed in order since I was so afraid of corrupting the FOFC FBCB league. All gone now.

Here is the NCAA pack:

I haven't tried it yet, it looks like it updates the default league.

I've got one that I'm almost done with, I need to finish naming the mascots. I've changed prestige ratings though, so not sure if you are still interested. I just changed them to reflect DDS:CB since it is more recent.

If you were to ever make a FBCB 2, please allow us to import an excel file to udpate the team names and prestiges.

Aligning the conferences by excel import would be nice too, but I imagine could lead to some problems.

I suspect you would see the data stored in a .csv file with the option to edit it in game as well. But ya editing in excel is roughly 5000x easier. I obviously didn't enter the original data using the game editor either.

Yes it does

An NCAA pack was sent to me like 1 or 2 years ago but can't remember who sent it to me (sabotai or sirfozzie maybe), i updated some logos and uploaded that repack to that website and yes, it reflects how was the NCAA one or two years ago. It works perfectly, no bugs, crashes, etc.

Just to be clear, it will not affect the structure of an existing league, right? Just any new leagues created from now on?

Yeesh, this is the biggest hurting I've ever put on a team. They are probably the worst team in my conference even when healthy, but lost their leading scorer to an academic suspension, their starting PG to a hernia for a month, and during this game they lost their starting SG as well to injury:

So I finally won my first national championship in 2026 with my Wright State Raiders who are currently in the Big 12 (after starting in the prestige-3 rated Horizon League). We were lead by our 7'0" senior center Shayne Chao. I didn't think he was that impressive on his ratings, and barely started his sophomore year. I'm glad I did because he averaged 10 ppg and 8 rpg per game on our team that went to the elite eight. That improved to 12 & 9 his junior year on a team that exited the tournament quite early. Bolstered by the best recruiting class in Wright State history, Chao had an amazing senior season where he averaged 15 ppg and 10.8 rpg, 2.2 bpg and shot 52% from the field. He was named conference player of the year and made 1st team all-american (!!!). He was rated 4-stars and #30 overall coming out of high school. He's projected to go undrafted and is overshadowed by my PF who is projected to go in the top 5 despite averaging only 6 ppg & 6 rpg this season. His defense is great but he fouls out all of the time.

If you leave a scholarship open for a player who declares for the draft, is there any chance he comes back to school? I haven't seen it happen...but I remember reading about some game that does it. Can't remember which one though.

FBCB is the game you're thinking of... but isn't Chao already a senior?

Yeah, I was wondering more for my PF (who was a junior). He didn't come back. Hopefully I'll be able to replace my front line and make another run at a title.

It was so gratifying to finally break through and win a championship. My program was steadily improving but we could never break through. We lost in the elite eight 4 out of 5 years (lost in the sweet sixteen the other year). It was great to finally get to the Final Four (as an established program versus the fluke time we made national runner-up with a senior-laden mid-major quality team).

This game rocks

Umm... holy shit, I just won the national championship!!!

I've never won it before, and it took me since 2003 real time with the one team, but man is it an awesome feeling!

It was completely surprising too, as we lost one of my best ever players (Howell, the guy with the amazing line on page 1 of this thread), have zero players on my roster ranked as top-100 recruits, and started the year 6-4, but we would never lose again, sweeping the conference and taking out the tournament as a #7 seed! We won 27 games in a row and were undefeated for 4 months.

And we are a 66 prestige team, which I imagine might change a fair bit as soon as I hit the 'end season' button.

I've never been so damn happy about winning a video game.

Congrats man

I had a similar run with a team where I started 4 seniors (and 2 more off the bench). We had never made it out of the first round in our 12 year history...and we made it to the title game where we lost to a crazy-good Maryland team. We beat 4 teams that should have whomped us by 20 points. I didn't make the NCAA's for like 4 or 5 straight years after that, which definitely hurt. Hope you don't lose a lot of your team to graduation

Your prestige should go from 66 to 78. I believe that's the max for winning the conference, winning the conf. tourney and winning the NCAA tourney. Congrats.

We lost 2 starters, a defensive PF and a steady point man, and our 6th man, a combo-guard. Stupidly I didn't really recruit a replacement PG, so I'm starting a 5th year senior who is a defensive specialist but just 6 out of 10 for hands, and he's averaging 5 TOs a game through 3 games to start the following season. I did recruit two highly rated PGs but neither was as good as advertised unfortunately, and one is redshirting this year.

I've found one mistake I've made as my prestige has grown is that I'm far too often looking at a recruit's ranking rather than key attributes, so now I have a team loaded with 'all-rounder' type talent, where as before I used to recruit specialists at each position. It's made me really deep, but I don't have a key go-to guy this year, and it's definitely showing. Need to get back to basics on recruiting.

IIRC it went to 77.

Without going too deep into strategy, I've really enjoyed going after perimeter players who can shoot the three. I also make defensive rebounding & post defense the main 2 attributes I look at when scouring for PF's and C's. Inside is also helpful for them. I really like perimeter guys who can shoot and score from anywhere. I think I need to refocus on my recruits' FT ratings, as my FT % hasn't been so hot lately.

Back when I was recruiting for a low prestige rating and was recruiting guys rated the 150-300 range, my team make-up was always:

1 big guy with high INS and SHT.
1 big guy with high ORB/DRB and PSD and pref. BLK.
1 SF with good HDS and PRD/PSD.
1 SG with good HDS, good 3PT, good PRD.
1 PG with good HDS, PAS, PRD and pref. 3PT.

And that was it. It's easy to get guys like that in the lower 3-star players, even if it means sucking in the other areas, and build an offense around it. Now I get tempted by highly rated prospects, and it may hurt me this season as I have few specialists to build an offense around. The amount of depth and overall talent I have, however, has allowed me to play a very up-tempo game, because I have a lot of guys who can pass the ball well and shoot.

I think even the top teams in the game, while they may have 2 or 3 (sometimes more, but the majority don't) 4 or 5 star guys in their starting 5, their primary depth guys are often lower rated guys than those that make up most of my roster, and some of them wouldn't even be hitting the court for me. That depth lets me run'n'gun and eventually I find myself pulling away. The season just past was the first time I've altered my strategy at all, due to all this 100-200 rated talent I'm pulling in each season, and I went and won a national championship, so I wonder if my "careful" lineups earlier, where I concentrated on defense and lack of turnovers, was the way to go, or whether the run'n'gun method I'm playing now might have yielded better results all along.
