This game looks kewl as hell, we should get some FOFC races going =)

I suck obviously since I just started messing with it, but it seems quite entertaining and the graphics are very well done.

The website is confusing, just download it from the links in the top section there. took me a bit to figure it out as well.

It just crashed on me a second ago, hopefully its not a constant problem =)

OK, I understand that it's a racing game. What sort of racing game is it? There is zero information on that website, just a bunch of ways to get tracks. Is this a 3d racing game like Need for Speed, a text-sim, wtf is it?

It's a racing game like Need for Speed, but with a lot more mods and options.

"Many sources falsely report that TrackMania Nations updates the StarForce drivers only if they are already installed, but, as of 28 May 2007, the current version of TrackMania Nations installs the StarForce drivers on all computers, even though TrackMania Nations is available free of charge"

from the Wiki page. just sayin'...

It's a bit confusing with all the names of the various versions, but does TrackMania Nations Forever have Starforce or is it just TrackMania Nations?

The free version of the game just released does not have Starforce in it.

okay, downloaded and installed the thing and I see myself having a lot of fun with this. Even driving with the keayboard isn't too bad, and the tracks are fun to look at. The solo races are fun although I'm kinda stumped with the stunt one (4th one I think) and I'm sure it'll be fun to challenge FOFCers for some fun...

No clue how it works online but I'm qcfrogman on the game server.

One thing's for sure, you can't beat the price... Download was 500Mb.

it is a very cool time waster, although I suck when compared to others. I mean, the solo play is fun but I ended up getting nothing better than 19th place out of 21 in the one online challenge I entered...

dola, my son saw me try it out after dinner, 5 minutes later, he wanted to create his own account and he played it for the following 20 minutes to the sounds of oooohs and aaaahs when crashes would happen...

okay, that was insane... just raced on a French server, probably a fan made track or something. Had three loops. I felt like a tiny plastic man in a hot wheels... wasn unable to finish one lap though, heh...

I've added you to my buddy list. You should see a request for confirmation next time you log in.

No clue it shows up now but I've changed the way my handle appears to FrogMan. No clue if you have to add the real login name or if you can simply add the nickname...

Tons of little fun this game...

is there a trick to jumping? I'm having a lot of trouble with either over or under shooting my target.

what kind of jumping? Pretty much always a question of having the right speed. Over jumping is pretty hard to guess...

Oh, come to think of it, keep the pedal to the floor when in the air, as I've found that it propels your car. Same could be said with applying the break while in the air and fearing you will outjump the target...

I downloaded it and got gold on most of the early 'green' difficulty tracks, except for the uhhh, 7 second acrobatic one or whatever its called which I can only silver.

Then I went online and joined a race, I played 3 races without ever completing a lap to set a time, and I don't think I was actually anywhere close to doing it on any of them. Holy crap! Is there a beginner server somewhere or something that you don't have to be perfect on to complete some crazy angled jump leading to a loop that you have to hit full speed and know which direction its going, etc etc?!

After about four hours screwing around with various servers, no, there isn't.

My best luck so far has been to look for servers with colors (names, that is) in the servername, as that generally indicates a tour set up with courses from the devs rather than made up nightmares.

But yeah, I generally consider it a victory to finish a track outside the bottom quartile of racers.

after running into the same thing that radii did, I stumbled on one that I think is just using the games solo tracks (or at least it has a lot of them). I don't remember the details - I'll have to check it out when I get home.

anybody still playing this game? I've been coming back to it almost on a daily basis, sometimes only as a timewaster, sometimes for a half hour of racing. I like it, even driving with the keyboard. Been thinking about upgrading to the paying version, Trackmania United, that gives you 6 different environment and different driving style of cars.

Anyway, if you're still playing, you can add me to your friend list, qcfrogman...

I'm still logging in every other day or so to run a few laps but generally I get fed up with the screwball track designs that people seem to think are kewl.

Sometimes I just run hot laps on the basic single player courses.

RendeR18 on there.

So I finally got in on this. Is anyone still playing? Anyone interested in a regularish FOFC competition?
