This could pose a bit of a threat to AOL's market dominance.

I sure do miss AOL of the mid-1990s. I was a teenager and thought that the internet was something "everyone" was using at the time. I had no idea...

Reminds me of my AOL experience back in the day when they slammed me. Set up a free trial backed with my checking account, then cancelled when the trial was over. A few months later, I bounced a check because AOL "renewed" my account took it out of my checking. When I called to find out the details, they were very helpful -- they gave me the time and date they called me to renew my account when I supposedly agreed to this. The date they gave me was Easter Sunday when I wasn't home, and I sincerely doubt their call center was working on Easter Sunday calling people to renew dead accounts.

Said they would credit me back but never did. Only got my money back by challenging through my bank. You work with AOL, you get what you deserve.

When I worked for WorldCom we used to share a bus from our "campus" to the metro station with AOL. Every week there would be fewer and fewer people on the bus as both companies laid off the majority of their staff.

Kinda sad really.

I met Loren on AOL chat while in high school. If they don't give me my webpage back I will stick it to them good and divorce her!

My in-laws use AOL, and I'm not sure what they're actually getting out of it. They have a cable modem, so they're not using it to dial in. I think lurker tried to get them to get rid of it, but they didn't want to because they didn't want to get new e-mail addresses. I don't know how much they pay, but it seems like paying anything is too much.

I bet you they got email notifications but ignored them. From my experience the customers that end up complaining weren't paying attention and didn't read their mail/email.

You know if you realized this issue back on 11/06/09 I might have been able to find someone from AOL that could help, but I'm going to say you are probably SOL.

I honestly didn't think you really had a problem at first.

Um, you could try the internet archive wayback machine, but I doubt youwill have much luck...

Internet Archive

Also might I suggest that in the future you keep local copies of anything to post to your own website (pictures, etc).

ok, ok, the nice guys are showing up. No need, I was just trying to mess with someone who didn't take the bait. Despite what may be thought, I am pretty far beyond these types of technological problems.

Damn you Pumpy, why didn't you take the bait??

Just an FYI, Senator: people who voted for Obama don't have this problem. And they also have unicorns, ponies and a President Check.

Seriously, though, that sucks. I hope you get your stuff back.

For the record, I did not have sex with that lady, JeeberD, wait, wrong subject.

I did not lose my data on AOL. I have never used AOL, I would never have a website on a free service hosting it, and I would be generally smart enough to have my files saved on my own PC than to keep them all somewhere else.

I was making light of others, and in turn, had others making fun of me. Justice served, perhaps.

In any event, if you are a lawyer, PM me.

Just kidding, geeeze.
