How can I make this computer faster?

My sister has an older computer. It is a Dell dimension with an intel pentium III peocesser 798 MHZ, 256 Mgs of RAM ( I am gonna get more for sure).

She has comcast but never kept up with a virus scan etc... I installed McAfee and am about to run Ad-Aware to hopefully clean off the crap.

I really don't want to spend any money other then the RAM and she doesn't have any to spend.

Can anyone suggest any other free software I can DL to either clean it off further or make it run better?

Thanks in advance

More RAM is going to be about all you can do to help from a hardware perspective. For software, look for a defrag program for the hard drive. It won't be a night and day difference, but it will help a bit.
