BCS Hypothetical

Right now in the BCS, Utah sits 7th and Boise sits 9th. There is a good chance both teams can win out. If both teams do win out, are we looking at a Utah vs Boise Fiesta Bowl?

It would be interesting to see the ratings for such a game if it is too occur. I assume if it is the Fiesta Bowl that gets the game, both teams fans will travel to it since it won't be too bad of a jaunt, compared to the other possible locations, and it'd be two fun offenses, but I am not sure it'd bring a great rating since there is no underdog factor.

I also could be wrong the Fiesta would get the game but I thought they have the last pick of the litter.

The Fiesta Bowl will have first pick, and they probably wouldn't pick either Utah or Boise. The Bowls might shake out like this:

Championship - Alabama vs. Texas Tech

Rose Oregon State vs. Penn State
Fiesta Texas vs. Cincinnati
Sugar Southern California vs. Utah
Orange Maryland vs. Boise State

Still a lot of football left to play, though.

What is sick is Ball State also has a slim shot of getting into the BCS. Currently they sit at 14 and they have three games left (assuming they make it to the MAC Title Game). With 4 teams ahead of them in the Big 12, it's as if they really sit at 12th.

Dola .. reading up on the BCS .. I believe they only have to take the top rated non BCS team. If that is true then this could be the year the BCS gets really hammered because to keep two deserved teams out would be viewed as a true crime by a lot of people.

That would be awesome if all three of those teams made it. I think it depends on the ACC champ - theoretically I think it could be an 8-5 Duke for example, who might be lower than 16th in the standings, in which case all three of those teams would make it.

Here's mine (as of today), in order of choice:

National Championship Game: Texas Tech (#1) vs. Florida (#2)

Fiesta Bowl: Texas (auto bid [#3], to replace losing #1) vs. Ohio State (at large)
Sugar Bowl: Alabama (at large, to replace losing #2) vs. Pittsburgh (Big East Champ)
Orange Bowl: North Carolina (ACC Champ) vs. Utah (auto bid)
Rose Bowl: Penn State (Big 10 Champ) vs. Southern Cal (Pac 10 Champ)

In your scenario The Fiesta would take Florida at large before Cincy and if not the Florida would go to Cotton as SEC #2

ACC Champ goes to orange no matter where they rank.
Contractual obligation that pre dates the BCS

These are definitely more compelling games, IMHO.
