NFL Fantasy Week 5
Who to start (not a PPR league):
Santonio Holmes Eddie Royal DeSean Jackson Holmes finally got a TD, but I don't expect much vs the Jags. I'd go with Jackson, except I think maybe the Skins can stop him... so that defaults to Royal. Smart choice? |

Royal is going to be a roller coaster being the #2 guy and the Eagles really seem to find ways to get the ball to Jackson. To me it's a gut call type situation but I do like Royal in a game where the Bronco's should be coming out a bit mad.
On my front, in one league I have to decide on Turner (@ GB) or Portis (@ Phi) for my 2nd RB spot (leaning towards Portis after he got the job done against Dallas) while in another league I've got to choose between Turner (@ GB), Jones-Drew (vs Pit), Royal (vs TB) or Bowe (@ Car) for a RB/WR flex spot. Any suggestions on those two (both are non ppr leagues)?

I hate going with the same player in two leagues if I have a choice... which is why Jackson for me might be an option, since Royal is my only choice in another league.
So saying that, if I went with Portis for your first choice, I think Turner is good for the second. Jones-Drew might not do well for Pit... I don't trust Bowe much... but Royal is also an option. And I think I'd choose RB over WR, but that's just my opinion. |

Look at Turner's home/road splits. Starting him on the road is iffy.

League settings: 1 point per 20 yards receiving/rushing (fractional scoring), 6 points for all touchdowns, .5 points per reception and -2 points for fumbles lost.
I can start two of the following five running backs. Joseph Addai (@Houston) Reggie Bush (Minnesota) Matt Forte (@Detroit) Chris Johnson(@Baltimore) Steve Slaton (Indianapolis) Who do I start? |

Yes, I'm an Eagles' fan...but the Eagles have the best run defense in the league right now...shut down Jackson, Parker, and Forte. Barber had a big game...but so did every other offensive player on both teams. The Packers are the exact opposite...they shut down Detroit's run game...big whoop. ADP, Barber, and Graham all had great games. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say Turner's home/road splits (after a whole 4 games) should be tossed out the window this week. |

Green Bay is giving up 160 yards/game on the ground and even better, that goes up to over 200 yards/game at home. With Rogders banged up and quite possibly riding the pine, or leaving early, there could be a lot of 3-and-outs for GB which puts the ball in Turner's hands a lot more. I'll be starting Turner with confidence this week. |

I posted this in an older thread but thought it might get more attention here.
Which QB would you rather own from now till the end of the season, David Garrard or Matt Schaub? My starter is Philip Rivers and I have Garrard as my backup.

Garrard I don't think can ever get a crazy game. But Schaub hasn't really done anything either. I'd probably just stick with what you have. |

Keeper league I'd go Johnson for sure, in a single season league it'd depend on what you'd have to give up to get either, but with Houston's schedule easing up going forward I'd still be inclined to go after Johnson (and his asking price may not be quite as steep, but that's all dependent on the owners).

Well, this is basically the offers he's made me Micheal Turner Or Steve Slaton/Santonio Holmes for Andre Johnson or Randy Moss/Edgerrin James I have a embarassment of riches at rb.. Micheal Turner/Chris Johnson/Steve Slaton/Mjd/Ryan Grant I'm honestly leaning towards turner just because their schedule gets kinda crappy and how long before teams load up on the line of scrimmage against atlanta? |

Would you do this trade (non PPR):
Selvin Young and DeSean Jackson for Le'Ron McClain and Marvin Harrison. I have Young/Jackson. I also have Wayne and Addai... I'd say based on the fact that I have Wayne and Addai, this is a no? I could try for Randy Moss or Hank Baskett instead... |

I like DeSean Jackson the best out of the guys involved in the trade so I personally wouldn't do the trade because I feel that Selving Young and Le'Ron McClain are mediocre starters at best. I would not try to get Hank Baskett. |

I have a week of tough matchups this week, what do people reckon:
The league scores pretty much eveything: yards, 1st downs, receptions, big plays, scores obviously, bonuses for 100yds+ rush/rec, big negatives for QB sacks (lose 1 point for a sack, which is the same as a passing TD - I really don't like this rule, but that's another story) QB: Carson Plamer, Trent Edwards RB: Ryan Grant, Chris Johnson, LenDale White, Willie Parker(out), LeRon McClain WR: Anquan Boldin (out), Hines Ward, Santana Moss, Matt Jones, Eddie Royal, Wes Welker I can play 2 RB + 3 WR or 1 RB and 4 WR - normally I'd go for the 2 RB but I don't like my BAL/TEN guys playing against each others defenses, and Fast Willie is out... So I'm thinking Trent Edwards at QB as Palmer gets sacked too much at them moment, and is up against Ware et al Ryan Grant (must be due a game soon!) Welker, Royal, Moss and Ward The alternative is maybe to swap Ward (I don't like Pittburghs passing game at the moment) for Matt Jones, who is solid with points for 1st downs, or one of the BAL/TEN RB's. Thoughts?

You are already starting one of those TE's I assume, and can start another as a flex? It would be hard to bench White who is the best of those 3 WR, but I don't know if ATL will need to throw very often vs. GB. Any of those 3 TE's might see more chances than him. Maybe it's my black and gold glasses, but Miller is intriguing. A team down to it's 3rd RB and a QB who gets hit alot taking deep drops vs. a team missing 2 guys in their secondary (Florence and Reggie Nelson).

I can start 4 of the following-
M Lynch A Boldin S Holmes C Chambers Ronnie Brown B Berrian S Rice Bryant Johnson Lynch is a given. Boldin is out. Holmes and Chambers are pretty close to must start. I have Ronnie Brown in there now in the final spot. Berrian being questionable made that easier, but is that the right start, vs. SD? Also, not much of a decision, but Fasano vs Bo Scaife at TE. It's an odd numbered week, so Fasano should be good.

I would go Manning vs. Houston. They should dominate but they'll pass OR if Houston hangs with them, it could turn into a shoot-out. I think that the Chargers will try and grind it out in Miami. |

Addai/Gore/Slaton/Bush-Pick 2 RB and 1 flex
I think Bush is the odd man out here for me this week. I do have a hard time trusting Slaton, even with Indy's shitty run defense. WR-Jennings, Megatron, Hines Ward, Desean Jackson-Pick 2(or 3 and bench Slaton/Bush) I'm probably going Jennings and Megatron, although I'd be interested in any kind of feedback. McNabb's an obvious play this week, over Ben or O'Sullivan I would think? Last edited by stevew : 10-05-2008 at 12:38 AM. |

I'm torn on a decision for the first time all season. I have to start one of the following...
Fred Taylor home against Pittsburgh Le'Ron McClain home against Tennesssee Patrick Crayton home against Cincinnati I'm leaning towards McClain right now but I'm also debating Crayton. I think Taylor is going to have a rough day. Thoughts? |

Hey guys, really need some opinions on this one:
We are PPR and we do receive points for return yards. I've got Fitzgerald, Bowe, Reggie Brown (Philly), Muhammad, and Steve Breaston available for today. I figure Fitzy and Bowe are must starts, that leaves me choosing one of Brown, Muhammad or Breaston (starting for Boldin). Do I corner the Arizona market or play Muhsin?
