Awkward...
Awkward is: Being in a position to have to explain the true definition of the word "bastard" to your child, whose mother you never married.

Marrying a girl who's mother used to hit on you in high school.

Hard for me to relate. I would have been in Mexico well before the discussion came up.

It's wasn't that awkward when it came up for me. My son just said, "I'm a bastard!" He lives with me know, so I don't think he has any resentment against me for it.

Ummm... Did the mother of a girl your age hit on you, or you married the daughter of a classmate? Quote:
My daughter had been told by someone that it was simply a negative term used to describe a guy. She said it was the male equivalent of "bitch." So I told her the true definition, why it started out as a put-down, and pointed out that many great people in history were products of people who never got married (including Jesus, if you believe Christian theology, as God never actually took Mary as a legal wife!) |

People still use the word bastard using it's litteral meaning?
I hope your kid understands that it's an outdated term and that people won't look down upon him. Last edited by molson : 09-30-2008 at 10:09 AM. |

Meh, this thread sucks.
Threads named Awkward are incomplete without Flere-diagrams!
