"Burn Notice" on USA

This is kind of fun.

Bruce Campbell is pretty much a pleasure to watch in anything, the lead sounds like Parker Stevenson circa Simon & Simon, the guy is part MacGyver part screwball. The supporting cast chews scenery but the whole thing is campy enough that it's more charming than annoying.

This really isn't bad.

Your reference point on Bruce Campbell is Xena? Am I just too old to understand that?

As for the lead, he was also in another USA cop series a couple years ago, with the chick from The Departed. I thought he was very good in it, and that it was a good series, but apparently I was the only one. Glad to see him back in something new.

Bruce Campbell has been great in pretty much everything I've ever seen him in. And I've seen him in some pretty wretched stuff, too.

This show brings me to something that I wonder if it rings true with others as well..

My standards for shows in the summer are just not the same as what they are in the fall... For instance I TiVO shows such as Kyle XY, On the Lot, and last summer Windfall that would easily fall in the scrapheap in the fall.

I think it's a pretty smart technique, especially for the USA's, ABC Family's, etc. of the world.

I look forward to the summer almost more than regular TV. My shows include 4400, Monk, Psych, Entourage, and then this year On the Lot and Big Love.

Keira Sedwick (sp?) disturbs me for some reason, so I will never give that show a shot.

I loved the first two episodes of Burn notice. This show will be a must see over the summer along with Dead Zone. Plus Jeffery Donovan is pretty hot and plays a good spy.... it is my kind of show

Does that include rebroadcasts? We ended up catching the 2nd showing of the premiere and missed it totally this week, having to tape the Saturday morning broadcast.

Currently includes DVR playback on same day, which is defined as 3am-3am

Just watched the first couple episodes.

Fun show.

Won't go down in history or anything, but each episode had me laughing out loud a few times. Most TV can't do that.

And I love how it does not take itself seriously at all. Like the totally pointless bikini shots on the beach every episode. Or like Fiona just choosing not to have an Irish accent anymore.

PRODUCER 1: "We got the feedback from the pilot, and people like Fiona, but they find the accent annoying. We will have to think of a really clever plot device to have her lose the accent in a natural way. This will take some creatitive thinking . . ."

PRODUCER 2: "We could just have her say that she doesn't want to have an Irish accent anymore and never discuss it again."

PRODUCER 1: "Yeah. That works. What's for lunch?"

"Does that come in male?" referencing the male bodyguards shirt as Jeffery Donovan walked by. Made me laugh out loud.

The first 2 episodes were decent, light. I hope the show continues the smart ass/sarcastic sense of humor it has going.

Agreed on all aspects, but I thought the gimmick was that we may hear her change accents again?

Ditto. I look forward to it coming up on the Tivo every week. This might even make it if it was in a fall, primetime rotation.

I think Parker Stevenson is the guy that was in the Hardy Boys. I think somebody else played the Simon and Simon character.

Old comment now, but yes. Yes he was great on Xena. Of course, if you get past all of the other "actors" in Xena and Hercules, there was a lot to like. Aaaahhh.....Aphrodite.....

Ares was killed on a set a few years back. Too bad too, he could have been a solid "period" actor

Wasn't aware of that. What set was he killed on and from what?

That got me thinking about Aphrodite again though. Whoever that girl was, she was hawt. I often wonder if people actually dressed like that back then.

On February 6, 2002, while waiting for a ride back to the hotel after completing his work on the set of Warriors of Virtue 2, Smith decided to walk around the Central China Television film studio grounds and climbed a prop tower on the set of another film. He lost his footing and fell approximately three stories, suffering severe head injuries. Smith was sent to a local hospital, then transferred to Beijing. He lapsed into a coma and was kept on life support for ten days until life support was discontinued. He died on February 15 without regaining consciousness.

Karl Urban (Caesar and Cupid) made a name for himself in the LOTR series as well as in the movie Doom and Bourne Supremacy.

That is too bad about Ares, that was one of the better characters on Hercules.

Watching the most recent episode they've shown on USA and I got over halfway through before I realized the woman in it was Lucy Lawless. Fun, still looking good too.

Love this show, might be my favorite on TV now.

Just saw the finale tonight, darned good episode with a bit of a different feel than usual. Chase sequence at the end seemed to have more intensity than I usually get off the show but without sacrificing the style of the main points elsewhere in the episode.

It's not earthshaking stuff but it's damned good television.

Yup, I enjoyed it. Always hate seeing a show go away for a while, but glad to see this is apparently coming back sooner than last year.
