The students weren't going to come down to the field I bet...but these cops probably called them wimps, so then they decided to show those cops who were wimps. Terrible.

Good thing this never happens at Pitt football games. The cops outnumber the fans 2 to 1 there.

Fans rushing the field/court after a game used to be cool because it was spontaneous and rare.
Now, the fans expect to rush the field anytime they beat a team that has been ranked anywhere in the top 25 within the last 10 years. |

I was trying to dig up some links to the articles from a few years back when they had some folks hurt, which led to teams increasing security to stop fans from storming fields/courts.

Is it me getting older or is just the fact that I work for a major American university that my initial response to this is to believe the police?

Must be the getting older part. I don't work for a university, but still think the people doing this are idiots.

Anything short of that kid having a gun or a bomb strapped to his chest, there was no reason for the beating that the one officer was giving which was caught on video. There were probably 10 full haymakers thrown at a body on the ground. |

I call them douchebags. It happens in basketball as well. If schools want to stop people from rushing the field/court, the schools should threaten with discipline, including being expelled. Last edited by Galaxy : 09-10-2008 at 12:47 PM. |

Giving all the cops/security guards tasers would make it way more entertaining.

SBI to investigate ECU post-game incidents :: WRAL.com
Not only is the state SBI investigating the brutality reports, but Conference USA has chimed in as well, fining ECU $100,000 for allowing fans to storm the field, as it violates their sportsmanship rules. I thought I remembered these rules being instituted a few years back during a rash of incidents...
