Movies that I think are of high quality and thus do not belong in this thread:
Groundhog Day Beautiful Girls Major League Gremlins 1/2 Joe vs. the Volcano The Negotiator As Good as It Gets Harold and Maude Now someone did brilliantly mention Night of the Comet and that reminded me of The Night Before, which is from the same director. Keanu Reeves accidentally sells his prom date (Lori Loughlin) to a pimp. That reminded me of some silly comedies that I'd add to this thread: How I Got Into College, One Crazy Summer, Men At Work.

There's a movie with Keanu Reeves and Lori Loughlin?

Oh I saw Kung Pow on the list and remembered
Big Trouble in Little China Gotta include it. Also Clueless is such a guilty pleasure that I consider it to be a good movie. Frankly I consider For the Love of the Game to be simply a great movie, as well as a movie that I MUST watch when it is aired. Last edited by Glengoyne : 09-10-2008 at 11:05 PM. |

The Night Before was pretty good. Reminds me of all those '80s teen flicks.
Joe vs The Volcano is high quality? Outside of Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan (in 3 roles), there's nothing high quality about it to me. Love the move, but I wouldn't categorize it as such... And I will add Major Payne to this list. Not a great movie, but it always keeps me entertained. Last edited by rjolley : 09-11-2008 at 08:06 AM. |

Yeah, I think Joe vs the Volcano is high quality. Sure, it's a quirky movie, but it's still a very good one. The opening sequence is a brilliant example of cinematography and art direction.

I can see it on this list more because I've always heard people say this is Hanks' worst movie. For me, it shows how well he and Ryan are able to turn a quirky script into an enjoyable movie. |
