BBCF-Unrealistic and crazy, crazy and more crazy

In my Penn State dynasty the past year my offense was 32nd and defense was 23rd and the record was 2-9! The previous years were 7-5 and 7-5 had losses to teams I wouldn't expect to lose to. I know the Big 10 is tough but losing to Northwestern at home is too much to handle. I lost to FAU at home last year and Idaho the previous year. In one dynasty of the computer teams Duke from 2008-2028 won a total of 1 game in that span. I know Duke is bad in real but come on 1 win in 20 years.
I can recruit well until prestige drops a lot then recruiting is impossible. Do I set the schedule to play the lowest 3 teams ranked in prestige at home?

I just don't think you're understanding the game. Beating cupcakes at home won't help a nat'l power team's prestige.

Ranking 32nd and 23rd is nice (in yards? points?) but if it's because you're blowing out Southwestern Northern Wyoming St and the like 70-0 4 times and losing close conference games, it's not inaccurate

I agree with you. The results in the game just never quite felt right to me either and I lost interest in it. I always found the interface, while somewhat pretty, a little cumbersome. I'm still playing good old TCY though and hoping we get a new version in the next 20 years or so.. Yes, it's not the perfect game by any means, but I've always found it simple to play, quick moving, deep under the surface and fun to play...

Ranked 32nd in offense and 23rd in defense, lost most of the games by less than 7 points.

Have you been gameplanning?

I've been in 3 online leagues, played countless solo leagues and I've never seen that result. My guess would be either a fluke or poor gameplanning.

Though that would make sense. It's like in OOTP when a team stinks in 1-run games but frequently gets the big wins. Theoretically you could go

Win: 52-3
Win: 45-0
and 9 20-13 losses

and you'd have 196 points for and 183 points against and one would expect a 6-5 record.

What's your turnover ratio? How are you on special teams? 3rd down conversion rate? How about a running game? Can you run out clock at the end of a game?

Yards are only one part of a game. In 2003, the Broncos were 7th in total offense, 4th in total defense. They barely made the playoffs. (won a tie breaker with Miami) Then were blasted by 31 in their first playoff game.

Yards are nice. Points are better. A football game can change on a lot of plays that don't include total yardage. I have get the ball to open the game. Drive down the field and get inside the ten. My star RB fumbles and it's picked up and ran back 70 yards to the 20 yard line. The other team scores a TD three plays later. I'm now up in yards 70 to 20 and am trailing 7-0 on the scoreboard. Punt returns, kick returns, poor punting or distance on kicks, sacks. . . all of thes can impact filed position and makre your totals inflated.

The other side of it is pretty simple. If you lost a lot of close games, you will likely win some of those if you replayed the year. Let's say 7 of your losses were by 6 points or less. If you replay the season 100 times, you'll probably go 4-3, 3-4 in a majority of those seasons. Sometimes you'll go 7-0 and be a national title contender. Other times you'll go 0-7 and your job will be on the line. Welcome to the real world.

I think this guy needs to see a therapist about his bad relationship with BBCF.

Or maybe we're his therapist.

Are you calling heads or tails at the beginning of the game?

Don't insult the Blue Devils. They're a national powerhouse in the BB-BBCF (along with every other ACC team).

Maybe you're not passing enough?

If you lose the first game, double the number of pass attempts in your second game. Keep doubling the pass plays until you win. You may hit a bad streak and wind up having to pass on a few 4th and longs in the first quarter, but with this system you always end up winning eventually.

I've got that gameplan stored in my archives. It's called "The Mike Leach Gameplan."

Take Alan's advice if you love going undefeated in the regular season, and winless in the playoffs.
