Apparently "tar-baby" has. I understand that you can't use it to refer to a person of color, but apparently you can't get away with using it in as a reference to the Uncle Remus story either, as both Mit Romney and John McCain found out. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to me to be any metaphor which is quite as pithy. Quagmire or morass just don't seem to have the same connotation of self-inflicted damage.

Why are we still talking about a no talent hack who said something stupid and got wrongly fired because of our current state of "sensitivity" that only applies when Sharpton or Jackson take up the cause? What he should have been fired for is being boring as hell and an idiot in general.

Proving once again that there is no such thing as "career-ending" in radio, Imus is back on the air in New York. I'm not sure how good a fit WABC will be for him, as his left-of-center views are much too liberal for WABC's right-wing base listenership.

But then again, his last gig was on a sports-talk radio station, so who knows?

This was posted on the Rutgers' Rivals board this morning (damn site outage) and I was surprised to see none of the news sites run with it. Up until about an hour ago, only a couple blogs mentioned it, but seems like it's picking up now.

Imus, on Pacman Jones:

http://www.breitbart.tv/?p=117733&comments=1

"Controversy" comes when Imus asks what color Pacman is, after being read of all his transgressions, and when told African-American, he responds with "Of course he is."

I think if there was at least 1 black person in the studio this is considered OK.

He did learn his lesson. He has already announced that he will explain it all tomorrow. Everyone will listen. Huge ratings.

News starting to pick this up some. Interest in Britney must be waning.

These things start slow. It's on SI's front page. And I've seen it posted other places than here.

The Rutgers women story started out so slow, when I left for vacation, it was also only on the Rivals message board. When I got home, he had already been suspended and the firing was like a day away.
