but what Gordon was saying is Yang wasn't folding jacks there for 3 million more into a 14 million pot regardless of the flop. |

Yep. If he had flat called, then he could have got Yang to fold on the flop. But he had already committed both of them to the pot.

Krevchenko just doubled up against Yang. Yang down to $46 million.

So, if he completes the meltdown that's been in progress for a while now, does that become the biggest collapse in poker history?

No, I think that definitely goes to John Shipley, who had a massive lead (more than 2:1 against anyone else) starting the 2002 WSOP final table and finished 7th.

John D'Agostino had 3x as many chips as anybody else at the 2004 U.S. Poker Championship, took a brutal beat to Hoyt Corkins and finished in 6th. Andy Black had a big chip lead the year Hachem won it and took a couple bad beats to Dannenman before finishing 5th. Those are a couple big collapses I remember.

Lam doubles up with a suspect all-in over the top of Yang with Ah5h, and gets called surprisingly by Rahme, with QQ. Yang folds, but Lam hits a couple of aces to pass Rahme in the standings. Fascinating hand for me to wake up and immediately catch.

Rahme is apparently now tilting like crazy, has made all-in moves on the last three hands... preflop twice, and on the flop once after calling Yang's initial raise. Hard to watch, it's like he's flipping out.
Go take a walk, buddy. |

He's getting killed for it by the announcers too, but so far it hasn't hurt him. You got here at a good time QS, not a lot has been going on.

Gordon is actually getting on my nerves a bit. He seems really dismissive and sometimes blatantly rude to his announcing partner.

Oh how much do I hate Zeidman. He can come up with whatever excuse he wants, but that slow roll was one of the biggest dick moves I've seen in a tournament. There was no betting left, she was all in and he had the stone cold nuts, yet he still made a little speech before calling.

The old guy must be tired shoving with AQ. Yang took forever to call with QQ. Ace hits! Justice I guess since he took a bad beat with QQ vs. A5 earlier.

The Russian taken out by Yang, 88 tripping up and beating AK.

This is the hand of the tournament. KK for the old guy vs. A5 for Jerry with an ace on the board.

Well, both of them played this hand terrible. The old guy check raises all in with KK with and ace on the board against a guy who folds nothing. Jerry of course calls with aces and a 5 kicker against a tight old nit. This is pretty much the tournament.

...but Yang gets his runner runner straight cards to take it down, in fitting fashion. Perfect ending.

Yep, very fitting ending. Yang made a lot of questionable calls for a lot of chips, but he had the best hand more often than not so I guess you have to give him credit for that and staying aggressive throughout. This table wasn't very interesting poker wise because of all the all in coin flips. At least we had post flop play with Gold and Cunningham last year.

Doesn't matter that he made runner runner. The money was in before the flop. Yang was actually the favorite.
Not that I was rooting for him, I should say.

I wasn't trying to suggest that he was unreasonably lucky after an idiotic call, sorry if it came off that way... It's just rather fitting that it would work out in such a bizarre fashion to work for him.
To hear him tell it, he had basically nothing to do with it, though -- it was all god's plan anyway. *shurg* Last edited by QuikSand : 07-18-2007 at 06:08 AM. |
